About
This ensemble of buildings is one of the monumental architectural works in Oradea and Transylvania, typical for the secession style. The architects Komor Marcell and Jakab Dezső won the contest for the construction of this complex. Two Jewish lawyers, Dr. Kurlander Ede and Dr. Emil Adorjan, decided to finance, using their own resources, the construction of a noteworthy building in Oradea. The work started in 1907, under the supervision of the civil engineer Sztarill Ferenc, and in December 1908 the building was completed. Consisting of two unequal and asymmetrical buildings, connected to a third one, placed in the middle and more isolated, the complex housed a theatre, ballrooms, a casino and offices. The Y-shaped gallery (passage) has three entrances. The Vittorio Emanuele Gallery in Milan inspired the glass-covered interior. The gallery or the Passage, as the local people know it, concentrates the most popular bars, coffee houses and pubs in the city, being the entertainment high spot of the city.

Everything is built harmoniously, and the shape of the building - the letter Y - gives it a very nice charm. The strong points are the stained glass windows. Everything is very well restored!
All respect to the two architects from the beginning of the 20th century - Komor and Deszo, but also to the city administrators, because they rehabilitated this building. Unfortunately, few commercial premises or restaurants are open in the Palace perimeter, most likely due to the very high rents demanded by the owners.

It's a very nice building in the center of Oradea. The renovations are still going on, but you can still admire the beautiful facade and the amazing black hawk. Worth stopping by.

Secession architecture masterpiece, built between 1907 and 1908 according to the plans of famous Hungarian architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab.
These two architects, who designed also the Stern Palace, located on the Republicii Street, represent for Oradea what Gaudi means for Barcelona.
Vulturul Negru palace has been recently renovated and looks fresh and beautiful. Unfortunately, except for two cafes and one pub located on the ground level, there's not much to see. One hundred years ago, this exquisite building hosted a casino, restaurants, offices, shops and even a hotel.
Hopefully, the building will be full of life again, just like one hundred years ago. As of today, I have no reason to rate it higher, sorry!

Iconic place in Oradea, the Black Hawk is a nice bar FULL of young people enjoying a drink while listening to the latest beat...Safe place, safe drinks, large assortment of diverse drinks. I have seen a significant nmber of girl having colourful soft drinks which seemed very refreshing. Smoking inside may become a problem during colder nights when the doors are not open.

Looks nice inside. Remember me about Milano. There aren’t many magazines opened but in the future could be a great Galleria.
