Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kiltepan Viewpoint is 3km away from the Municipal Tourism Office.
Here you can enjoy the view of the sea of clouds at the top of the mountains and valleys during the beautiful sunrise. Depends on the weather, the view of the sea of clouds might not be perfect.
If you’ve watched the movie, “The Thing Called Tadhana” and need to move on from a heartbreak then this is a must-visit place in Sagada. Some tourists are screaming out their feelings like the unforgettable scene in the movie.
The best time to go here is before sunrise around 4 am to catch the sea of clouds.
While waiting for the sunrise, you can have breakfast in small restaurants located in Viewpoint. A must-try during your breakfast would be their Sagada coffee and mountain tea (my favorite!). Their champorado (hot chocolate porridge) and Arroz Caldo (Filipino porridge) are a must-try too!
You can buy some items here like a bag of Sagada coffee beans and mountain tea.

First time we went here on March, it was a beautiful sunrise but no sea of clouds. Second time here on November, it was Sea of Fog. Might be the perfect month to see the sea of clouds is during the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the year.

This place is a joke. Way too commercialised they tell you to wake up at 4am to catch a Jeep to take you up to the top which takes about 25minutes. At the top they will push you to buy coffee and breakfast. If there are fogs/mist around obviously you won’t see nothing making it just a waste of time a complete waste! When you wake in morning if any signs of fog/mist go back to bed don’t waste your time. Go up later in the day once fog/mist has lifted.

Woke up early to catch the sunrise at Kiltepan. Kiltepan is the shortcut name for the first three barangays in Sagada KIL (Kilong), TEP (Tetep-an), and AN (Antadaw).
Super excited to see the sea of clouds here as seen through wondrous photographs and of course in the super super kilig movie That Thing Called Tadhana.
Went there around 530am. It was freezing cold!!! As in! The weather was super cold plus the strong winds add to the chill! There is a little sari-sari stores that offer simple breakfast food like hard boiled egg, instant noodles, and 3-in-1 coffee. While waiting for the sunrise, there are bonfires lit up on the sides to keep you warm.
The view was breathtaking and we were lucky enough because there were only a few tourists that time so picture galore!
Best time to go here in Sagada is during the rainy season because the sun rises perfectly in Kiltepan as per our tour guide.

Well, I have been to Kiltepan Peak several times to witness sunrise and the sea of clouds but last May 10, 2015 Mr Sun was a bit shy because of the typhoon.
Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the great view while sipping our coffees.

We went here to catch the majestic sunrise of Sagada but unfortunately the sun didnt went out. There are Lots of people that you can't barely move for you to take a good picture.
It is foggy but the sea of clouds is good to see though.
You can also see some plastics that have been thrown all over the place.
There is No Entrance Fee going to this place.

I visited Sagada in October 2013 and 2015 and was able to visit Kiltepan in 2013. To make out of the Sagada cold weather, we walked from the place where we were staying in Misty Lodge Inn at around 4:30am up to the Kiltepan View point with a promise of a majestic view of sea of clouds. It was probably a 500-700 meter walk. By the time we got there, a few groups of people were already there, some of whom camped out. But since it was October (not peak season), it was not that crowded. We waited for the sunrise, and yes, the sea of clouds was beautiful.
However when we went back to Sagada just this April 2015, we were discouraged by the locals to go there as there was fire there few days before because as they said, one of the tourists left a lit cigarette and threw it in the woods causing a forest fire. They said tourists flocked altogether probably because of the hype of the movie at the time showcasing Sagada as a place to mend broken hearts. To my fellow travelers, I wish we become more disciplined when we travel because we are mere visitors to this beautiful mountain community, and we should be thankful that they allow us to share a piece of their lives with us.

is the kiltepan sunrise view open?
Written 19 October 2019
Yes but I suggest you rent a vehicle or join other groups going there as it would be pitch dark walking before dawn and it will be a muddy, rough trail up there.

From Buscalan, where we can ride going to Mt. Kiltepan? Thanks in advance

Hi! Where in Baguio can we take a ride going to Kiltepan and how long is the travel? Thanks!
Written 27 August 2017
Baguio to Sagada ride takes 5-6hours. You will either have to stay the night before then catch the sunrise by getting to the hill at 4 am. Or you can take a night trip and be there at 4am if you have a car, which is not highly recommended because of the foggy highways.
Buses to Sagada are at DanGwa Station and at Slaughter compound.

Where can we ride if we're in manila going to sagada? Thank you!
Written 7 February 2017
You can either take baguio from victory pasay and cubao. Thats a longer route though. But at least you can do a side trip in baguio. From baguio tale the bus going to bontoc. Or you can go straight to banaue from espana manila via ohayami bus line. Then van to sagada. ;-)

After viditing mt kiltepan, where is the nears place to see next?
Written 29 January 2017
The nearest would be the hanging coffins (ecotours). However, you would need to head to the tourism centre to engage one of the guides on standby there to go for the guided tour.
