Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is horrible and the staff are very rude. Watch out they will scam you. The Waterfall and access to the river are closed but they don’t tell you. Additionally the place is disgusting. The pools are dirty and smell and there are bugs everywhere. They refuse to offer refunds as one of the 20 signs that they have hanging at the counter says no refunds. AVOID at all costs.

I soaked for hours talking to locals and enjoying poolside beer delivery. I was the only Gringo, probably because of all the scary reviews about it being so dirty, but it didn't seem dirty to me. The locals say that tourists think it's dirty because of the naturally murky water colour. You will notice an in-flow of nice hot water if you put your foot at the bottom of the northeast corner of the hottest bath (3rd one). That makes me think maybe the water doesn't stagnate. I loved it and didn't get sick except minor hangover.

After hiking all day at Machu Picchu I was looking forward to a relaxing soak in a hot spring. HA! I should have sat in the bathtub in my hotel room instead. This was the most disgusting place in Peru! The water is Luke warm at best, the pools are over crowded and basically “human soup”. It smells horrible and the water was yellowy brown. All of the employees were extremely rude. Don’t waste your time or money!

After hiking on Machu Picchu, my family and I thought it might be nice to loosen our tense muscles after a long day. But instead of relaxing, hot hotsprings with running, clear water, we were greeted with a big bathtub. The water was grey and felt yucky. The ground was pebbles, some were fairly sharp. also, this is the place apparently some locals go to wash themselves. On another trip advisor rating, we saw that apparently some locals had brought shampoo. And some of the pools were cold. The only one that was hot was packed with maybe 100 or so people in it packed like sardines. So, my family and I went in a grey, lukewarm pool. Also, the changing areas are filthy and unsanitary. I did not appreciate this visit and would not recommend it. I got too close and personal with strangers that day. I stayed less than 5 minutes in the pool before I decided that it was ridiculous. I would not recommend this place.

This is probably the most disgusting bath I've ever been in. Pools are simply and overcrowded with locals. One of the pools were closed due to yellow water. Wonder why. The smell of pee was present at the other pools and the water was not even hot, just the temperature of - yeah you guessed right - pee. Total waste of money.

We just got back from a swim here. It's fine, nothing flash but also not half as bad as the reviews make it sound. The pools are piping hot with gravel bottoms, great for sore feet. Watch out for the drinks, they are pretty pricey.

Don't waste your money. The baths are dirty and luke warm. I was very disappointed because I was looking for some relaxation after Machu Picchu only to find this disgusting place. What a shame because it could be so much better.

Overpriced and the pools are crowded and filthy. Only outdoor showers, so people do not properly wash before entering the pools. Also very few changing rooms and toilets, so there will be queues all over. You will feel better just having a simple shower at your hotel.
