Concepción Volcano, one of the hardest volcano treks in Nicaragua. It's my first volcano trek/hike/climb in life. 5,500 foot hike/climb started at the early morning, 4 hours to reach the top, 6 hours to descent, total of 10 hours hiking/climbing. I do recommend to take a guide with you to reach the top. Ometepe Island, Lake Nicaragua, Nicaragua 🇳🇮 Central... More

This was so much fun! Our guide could run to the top in 2 hours he said and I believe him! He was fast... We made it in about 4 hours and we had a great view from the top. Quite a few people turn around before they reach the summit because there is a lot of loose small rocks... More

What can I say about this hike. It was the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm in decent shape. Not a marathon runner by any means. I finished it, we were a big group of people. I feel like through tour guides etc they don't really tell you how hard it is because then no one would do it. It... More

It is just 40 km to cycle around Volcan Concepcion from Moyogalpa. If you start early you will be able to avoid too much sun. I would recommend to go North from Moyogalpa first as this part of the road is more tiring. Part of the road is not paved and rather sandy and with stones. Make sure you do... More

We used a guide provided by Hefziba hotel in Moyogalpa. Lester has good English and is a wonderfully patient Spanish teacher as well. $20/pp First off, we appreciated they take you up on a dirt bike as far as possible. It’s a sandy, scary ride, but saved us a lot of steps. The jungle is great: massive trees of different... More

It's very steep all the way, i used 80% feet 20% hands. It took us three hours and twenty minutes to get up. Go early and you will be in the cloud - the climate was cool and wet in a very good way. Most of the time you have trees to hold on to and pretty flowers to look... More

This Volcano is so beautifully ominous looking, it's almost intimidating. We were lucky enough for the clouds to move out long enough so we could see the whole Volcano. Truly an amazing sight!

i had an amazing experience climb and success. i did it through my hostel and had the best guide ever - he explained the history of ometepe and the diverse plants and animals on the island; he also waited for me when i lagged behind. we did on a very hot day so when we submitted there were lots of... So I came to Ometepe on an impulse with a friend and obviously the first thing that hits you in the face is that monumental volcano - Concepcion. Obviously there and then I committed to climbing this beast without thinking too much about it. After reading several blogs it became clear that this was no walk in the park, but... More

I knew from the start we won't have much of a view because the forecast said cloud but that was the one day we had at it so went for it. The trail we went on was the South East one, it starts just a few k South West from Urbaite where the road from Los Ramos joins the main... More
