Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The last large green areas before the Sahara. The palm groves stretch for many kilometers along the banks of the Drâa River, which does not have water all year round. If you have some time, you should not cross the valley on the N9, but use the side road between Agdz and Zagora at least part of the way. It leads through old Berber villages and you simply see more. A walk through the palm groves is also recommended. It is particularly beautiful in the morning and evening light!

the draa valley is the place you want to take time to discover, take a riad in the zagora palm grove, sth like les jardins du draa or bio riad tagmadarte and start your daily trips from there. one day trip is the dunes of tinfou, another one can be a visit of the mountains at the end of the valley, do a pottery course with mamadou at tamegroute (last pottery shop on the road through tamegroute) and don t forget to wear good walking shoes. it s a wonderful trip if you follow the river inside the palm grove but don t forget some water and a lunch package :-) we liked it that much when we ve been there in march that we came back in october for an extended period of time

Huge a few tens of kilometers, forest of date palms, pomegranates, and some places planted with corn, divided to plots, fenced with a maze of fences along the dusty paths to almost dry river Dra with a view to old dirty dusted ruins. Explore yourself if you want )

During our stay in Zagora, we were recommended a local guide, Mustapha Elalaoui. mustapha is fluent in French and speaks Enligsh as well. he showed us a local kasbah, local palmerie, old librarie,... the true advantage of this guide is that as a local, he knows the non touristic spots where you get to see the real life od the local people. Great experience and would highly recommend a tour with Mustapha. very nice and sympathic guide as well. you can contact him on mustapha.zagora@yahoo.fr or via 00212670020251

We went here last May 2015 with my husband. Our chauffeur drove us from Marrakesh to Sahara and we passed by this beautiful place. It's lined with palm trees and breathtaking rock formations (which looks basaltic in nature). My camera can't stop firing on the scenery. It's so unreal! How many colours can one see on rock formations? Must-see! ;)

Hi,
We'll be driving from Merzouga to Marakesh begining of May. What is the section of Draa Valley with the best sceneary that we should include in our route?
Thank you, Sil

You can easily drive down the valley to Zagora, stay the night there and drive back the following day. It is truly beautiful. If you have to you could go further south but as you will have come from Merzouga you will already had the desert experience.
