An interesting place, worth visiting because the Mekong River cruise from Luang Prabang gets you onto the water where you get a new perspective. The cave has a few areas where all the horizontal surfaces (other than walkways) are covered with hundreds of varieties of Buddha images. Enjoy some fine views across the Mekong. Our guide said the upper cave... More

It is very important to understand that this review is about the two caves – nothing else. So, when it comes to that, this is a less inspiring place that you easily can skip. The first cave are somewhat better than the top one to which you have to scale about 150 steps before you arrive to a cave where... More

Our guide arranged a river boat for 4 of us to visit the Caves. It was a perfect day and we mourned 2 hrs there & 1 hr back taking in the view & photographing. The caves were interesting, all the Buddhas, old & new, great views of the joining of 2 rivers, the Mekong brown, the Kwam blue, the... More

The caves in themselves are disappointing although the sight of so many Buddha's is fascinating. Need to om get a boat to get here.

The trip along the Mekong in a long private boat made this trip worthwhile. It was cold at the start but the boat provided blankets to wrap up against the wind. Pak Ou caves themselves were just caves full of budha statues - a lot of tourists.

These caves are extremely unimpressive compared to the other things to do around. I am surprised by the reviews that say it is totally worth it. The boat ride is slow and long, especially if your luck ends up in an uncomfortable boat. These caves are extremely upsold and totally not eorth it, I regret taking the time to do... More

Book a riverboat cruise to take you to the caves ... About 1.5 hours ... Steep climb ... Not advisable for older or weak climbers. Make sure you research why the caves and statues are there BEFORE you go there. Seeing River life very interesting this time of year with farming and fishing along the banks. Trip back takes half... I am not convinced we did enough research before we embarked on this excursion so please take this review with a grain of salt and if you are interested ask more questions about the options. We hired a private boat to get there from Luang Prabang and back which took 1.5 hours there and 1 hour back. For that amount... More

I visited the caves back from a kayaking trip, it made them more interesting. A lot of boats in LP try to sell you the trip to Pak Ou Cave, don't hesitate to bargain, prices will go down a lot. you arrive, you climb some stairs and you have a lower cave and an upper cave. start first with the...
