Take a walk there and see the different houses, the mosque is also very beautiful. Don't expect to see big monuments or very grand buildings, just some normal historical buildings and streets. It might be very hot at noon if you visit in summer.

Put aside museums, monuments and other site seeing, walking inside Fahadan and old part of the city is another activity which may not be ignored during visiting Yazd.. wind catchers, reservoirs, old houses and many other elements of civilisations may surprise you in absence of modern technologies

Yazd is one of the best preserved cities in Iran and walking around its old city centre you will feel the difference..the wind towers , the old wooden doors ,the little gardens..everything is a must see.

We agree this is the #1 tourist attraction. Because you leave the modern era behind and dive into the past. We found a 69 step walk down to an ancient well, an old bazaar and a 1400 year old Mosque. The leather goods at Paya Leather were amazing and reasonably priced. The history is oozing out every corner.

It was one of the highlights of my Iran trip. You can not find such a wonderful place with friendly people in any other part of the world.

Yazd Old Town is a great fabulous place for those interested in old buildings, art, architecture and history. It takes you at least 2-3 hours to go around and visit the houses and to take photographs. The things you'd better have with you are camera, walking shoes, water esp if you're there in warm seasons, a cap or something that protects you from the... More
