This is not really one Temple, but a series of Buddhist Temples and statues, which Wikipedia has a great description of. We spent an entire morning here, slowly climbing up and up the mountain side. It seems that most tourists stop at the first building. They miss so much. Be sure to stop in the building in the picture I have posted. The young girl who lives there is an orphan being raised by a female Buddhist monk. She gave us tea, grapefruit, a bracelet, and did a beautiful dance for us. When I offered her money, she made it clear she did not want it, although we did put money int he offering slot under the Buddha in her home. Along the way there are numerous places to stop and have a drink, listen to the chants and music and birds as the prayer flags blow in the breeze. The views of the ship building harbor are beautiful. I have been to many, many Temples, and this one was special.

we came here around noon. Then less tourists visit here. Walking up a full circle to see many temples on the mountain.

My personal opinion is this is the best pagoda or series of pagodas in Vung Tau. No charge, start at the bottom and walk your way through a serene park area seeing a variety of different pagodas. Beautiful statues throughout too. Monks living and working onsite. Go see.

For those who are Buddhist, this place can be the good place to meditate because it's quiet. For tourist you can see some big statues and a view from the cliff.

Thich Ca Phat Dai is an incredibly interesting temple found on Vung Tau island, which holds secret; a religious icon from Sri Lanka with connections to Buddha!
Buddha studied under a large tree. A cutting from this tree was transplanted by monks in Sri Lanka. Some time ago some visiting monks planted a cutting from the Sri Lankan tree at this temple.
On one particular day of the annual Tet festival monks from all over Viet Nam and even Cambodia visit this holy site. It is quite common to have 3,000 monks visiting this one temple.
This is considered to be the luckiest temple on Vung Tau island, so it is always busy. Do you need some luck? Now you know where to go.

This place left me wondering what Buddhism is all about. Is it only about lifeless statues with half closed eyes making you feel weary? The heat coming from all the concrete and bare dirt was oppressive and the stench from burning plastic outright obnoxious. There are statues of Buddha everywhere leaving no room for nature. If you want a peaceful place, go to Japan or Korea because Vietnam is anything but peaceful or quiet.

You made a mistake on the location of the temple .It is in the north part of Vung Tau !.So go to google maps to know where is the location .
