About
Good exhibits on Khmer and Chinese contributions to the Mekong Delta's development, also interesting is a small exhibit on local watercraft.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited the museum on a Saturday night, (yes! Opened till 9pm), many interesting collection of artefacts, though the presentation of the documentation seems outdated, the information is useful to know the history of Can Tho. The collection ranges from weapons used during the French period and clothes & furniture worn, ancient Chinese influence was seen. Portraits of leaders were prominently placed with brief history. This museum is close to many coffee outlets.

As is free its worth a walk around if you're in the area. Majority of photos have english translation but not the exhibits. Was interesting to learn more about the revolution and over throw of the French. Good to see Vietnam is investing in research for rice varieties. Wish they would invest in more rubbish bins and environmental causes as a whole country. I can't stand that people treat the streets and rivers as a rubbish bin

The tour guide can speak both English and Vietnamese. But you have to book the museum in advance if you want to be toured in English. You can learn a lot about Can Tho: animals, fruits, boats, history,...

This is now part of the Mekong Delta Museum and the focus is on local fishing and farming. For me though, there were very limited displays and not much to grab the attention. One exhibit was a case with samples of different varieties of rice grains! Surprising to know there are 20+ types but worthy of being in a museum? This was a typical thing they had. Of course, this being Vietnam we also had the ubiquitous nod to war with a French prison display with guillotine and an old war plane - for no real reason.
Best thing of my visit was a dragon dance outside as we were coming up to Chinese New Year.

There is no entrance fee for the museum. The exhibits are quite interesting, related with the local. However, some of the displays have no English translation.

Museum is over 2 levels. Not open everyday so check times on attached photo. It was worth looking at and no doubt has some good exhibits that are very old but unfortunately most are undated. The date they were discovered is displayed but not the dates of the artifacts. I read Vietnamese better than most learners but with no English translations it was too hard. You don’t know what you’re looking at unless it’s obvious.
There is a phone number (attached photo) of the museum to arrange a guide and if I went again I would be arranging that prior.
There is no entrance fee. Allow u to an hour even if you don’t have a translator or guide.

A small museum in a reasonably interesting building. Lots of old and oldish implements and things to look at, lots of old imagery. Unfortunately only about half the museum has English translations for displays. It is free, so definitely worth a visit if you are not stuck for time. Al at leavetoroam.com.

The museum tells the story of some of the things that went on in this province during the Vietnam war. There are many old objects of life in the Mekong Delta.

We went on a Friday when it's supposedly closed. Was open 6am til 11am and free of charge. A decent ethnographic display of Vietnamese history with a strong focus on the different wars with Cambodia, America and China. Limited English signage apart from outside where there's an interesting display of burnt out cars and helicopters, plus armoured cars from the Khmer war.
