The Imam Al-Bukhari Memorial Museum or Memorial Complex of Imam Al-Burhari is located in Samanid Park, opposite the Chashma Ayyub mausoleum. Entrance ticket is 20,000 UZS, but bank cards are not accepted. For this reason, we limited ourselves to an external inspection. PS. This museum should not be confused with the Imam Al-Bukhari Memorial Complex in the village of Hartang, Payaryk district, Samarkand region, as some authors did. It is not difficult to guess that these two objects are completely different attractions, although they were built at approximately the same time, at the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st centuries.

The Memorial Complex of Imam Al Bukhari is situated in the northern section of the Samanid Park opposite the ancient Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum. It is a recent structure, as the small museum was opened in 2001. It is a unique design, as it is shaped as a book which is partially open, with the spine facing south. Behind the book is the easily recognisable crescent moon symbol. There are star shaped designs on either side of the steps leading to the museum. The architect is Zoirsho Kilichev, and it is reported that he used bricks on the book to represent cells and ultimately hadiths collected by the famous Imam.
Muhammad al-Bukhari was born in Bukhara, and lived between 810-870. His father was a scholar of the hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad), and as a teeneger he started recording these sayings which were passed verbally at the time. He traveled to Mecca at sixteen, and also visited other holy cities over a long period including Medina, Jerusalem, Damascus, Bahgdad and Basra. He used this period to interview religious leaders of these holy cities and record hadiths. It is reported that he received more than 500,000 hadiths, and returned to Bukhara in his 30's.
On his return he compiled 7,275 of the tested hadiths in a book known as "al-Jami' as-Sahih". This book is represented on the monument. The book is considered second only to the Koran by Sunni muslims. The museum highlights his travels, text collection and other interesting facts on the book. For his work, the imam received the title, "Master of Hadith Scholarship". The book was used as the basis to judge rulings on religious issues. The Imam died at the age of sixty in a small village named Hartang, near to Samarkand. His mausoleum is located 30 km north of Samarkand, and is a place of pilgrimage.
There are many attractions in the Samanid Park including the Zoo, Talipach Gate, Ismael Somoni mausoleum and the lake which offers a wide variety of activities. This area may be reached by walking west from the old city through the east gate of the park, taking a bus to Mirdustim Street and walking in a northerly direction or taking a bus to Sulaymon Murodov Street and walking east along the ancient wall to access the park.

close to the Chashma Ayub mausoleum, this is of lesser interest, as it is a modern building, with a collection of scripts by the prophet.

Awesome and thrilled first visiting the tomb of Imam Bukhari at Memorial Complex of imam Al Bukhari, Bukhara City, Uzbekistan. Moreover, got to visit the remnants of the Emir's Palaces in Bukhara and Samarkhand gave an extremely beautiful experience for life. With this opportunity got to associate its history with the history of the city of Taj Mahal, Agra, India relating it's ancestral relationship between the Mongol and Mughal Empire from Gengis Khan @ Kublai Khan to Timurlame till the Shah Jahan's Empire in India.

This very well constructed and maintained mausoleum complex was commissioned after Independance by the late Uzbek ruler , Islam Karimov. Built on the outskirts of Samarkand near the village of Hatang this is the resting place of one of the most revered Imams in Islam. Imam bukhari was born in the 9thcentury and a very learned man who travelled extensively across Asia to the Middle East. He compiled the Sahi Bukhari which is a collection of authentic sayings of the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and number over 6000. This compilation is the 2nd most important scripture after the Holy Quran in the Islamic faith. The complex consists of the beautiful marble and mosaic tomb,Friday Mosque and museum set in a beautiful garden amongst beautiful terraces(ayvan) and ponds. A very serene site to visit.
