The mosque has wooden beams on the outside and a fairly moden inside. The most interesting is the reflection of the mosque in the water located in front.

The inside is not very exciting ( the decor is too modern and the cheap Chinese chandelier is horribly wrong) but the outside is beautiful. A lot of intricate details in the woodwork, columns and ceilings. The large pond in front could do with some...More

I loved the wooden pole outside. The interior has been completely restored, though it was the portico that did it for me.

This is right across street from the main gate of Bukhara fortress. You may enter into the mosque for a quick look. You must wear modest dress and remove your shoes in order to enter. This place is full of history, so would be better...More

Built in 1712 , in front of the Ark citadel in the Registan district . It served before the unification with Bolshevik Russia (1920) as a Friday mosque (main mosque) where the emir of Bukhara came to pray

Somewhat unpromising on first glance the Bolo Hauz proved to be a real treasure. The wonderful Islamic architecture within the Mosque with its restrained blue and white colour scheme and a truly ethereal atmosphere silenced the usually tumultuous crowds into quietly absorbing the astonishingly beautiful...More
