We had a hellish time due to setting off unprepared and too late in the day. The hike is far longer than you think with a steep uphill bit at the end. We set off at about 1.30 and had to turn around instantly once we reached the waterfall and race back to avoid getting stuck in the rainforest after... More

My bf and I are decently fit and hike somewhat frequently, and it took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to get there and 1 hour 45 minutes to get back traveling at a fairly quick pace. Bring food! We were feeling really hungry/weak at the end because we hadn't brought any snacks. Maybe it's because it's the dry season... More

Thanks to all the past reviews I could prepare myself both psychologically and physically for this amazing hike (how long it takes, what to expect and what to wear). Really one of the best things to do in Pai area during a really hot day, as you walk all the time in a shade, next to the water. I went... More

If you are feeling energetic, do this hike. It's about three hours each way at a steady pace through jungle and crossing the river many times. I did this in flip flops and would recommend that as most of the hike is flat. There is a very steep climb towards the end with narrow ledges which you have to be... More

The hike through the jungle to the waterfall is more interesting than the waterfall itself. We walked around 2,5 hours. The last part is quite steep but manageable. Bring flip flops or sandals, as the path goes in and out of the river constantly. Very worth it!

I loved the walk up lots of watercrossings so wear shoes that can get wet :) It begins whit a watercrossing so that was a bit confusing xD The hard part was in the end, but as soon as you get up to the top it will even out and become a plesant stroll again :)

The most difficult thing was finding the turn off if the main road!! Big signs at major intersections, but a tiny little sign at the entrance off of the main road just across the bridge in Pai. Read the previous reviews and was expecting a tougher hike, but it was challenging (the uphill section) but very doable! You do cross... More

Roughly a 7 hour return hike for a reasonably fit person, great jungle scenery with a decent waterfall at the end that you can climb up if you have the balls. Take at least one litre of water per person. If you sweat as much as I do

Wow. Get yourself here. Allow at least 2 hours there and 2 hours back if you are a strong walker, more like 3 each way if you are going hippie and doing it barefoot. Take good boots, walking trainers or better, but ones you don't mind getting wet. I lost count at 24 river crossings each way, so don't even... More

I'll be honest, the Mae Yen waterfall itself is not so impressive, but the hike itself through the forest is exceptional. Truly untouched nature, with vines and all colours of moss and fungus aplenty! To get to the hike I recommend using google maps. It's quite a narrow path to ride with a scooter to the start, but definitely doable.... More
