Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The other photos posted are not the King Narai's palace.
The king Narai palace is well maintained, green surroundings and walled palace. A 15 minute walk from the train station.
The landscape was amazingly relaxing. There are chairs to sit. Refreshments to buy at the entrance. All important details were written in Thai and English. There directions to the walk path to follow.
The museum inside the palace is a must see thing. Great collection of artifacts, written history arranged in photos with English captions. There are souvenirs for sale at the second floor of the museum. Please observe leaving shoes and slippers while entering the museum.

Walkable historical site in Lopburi town. Children enjoyed running around and reading about the history behind the 12th century temple/palace.

Very fascinating journey inside 4 millennia of Thai history.
The Palace is so beautiful, and its architecture is really unique being a blend of different styles from around the world.
I loved the national museum, which is inside the Palace. (Definitely worth 150 bath, if you can't pay 150 bath for a site and museum of this level just make a favour to everyone and go somewhere else. The reduced price for Thai nationals is obvious and very just. It is their own history, admission should actually be FREE for them!)
In a building there is a complex of 4 or 5 showrooms, really well kept and organized, exposing the history of King Narai, with much emphasis on its international relations, especially with France. Thai and very good English explanations, charts etc.
Then in a bigger building there is another complex of showrooms, with air conditioned and really modern structures. Super nice and clear, with very nice panels and also some free video guides (unfortunately available in Thai language only), this part of the museum focuses on Lopburi ancient history from bronze age settlements until late Dvaravati civilization.
I am studying Thai history and I found this museum AMAZING. From a history passionate perspective, it was a true pearl in the mud, and with 'mud' I mean everywhere else in Lopburi, sorry.
This is how you are supposed to take care of a cultural and historical heritage... and not letting the monuments be covered with stray dogs and "cute" monkeys!

As of this writing, TA is calling this place the "Lopburi Palace". It's actually the Somdet Phra Narai National Museum, as seen on one of the attached photos.
It's a former palace of 17th century King Narai, who reportedly spent more time here in in Lopburi than in Ayutthaya.
For anyone interested in history, culture, archaeology, or design, this is the top place to visit in the area, and a reason to make a trip to Lopburi. This is a destination.
Attached photos don't show exhibits within the museum, nor in the annex which contained a collection of folk implements, and a special exhibition of textiles, when I visited. But those were also interesting - and added the 5th star to this rating.

Recommend for family trip . Kids will enjoy the monkey feeding and on the way from Bangkok you have so many spot to stop by. Which nake ur day memorable. Keep phone and glasses and other belongings far from monkey they always try to snatch it. Prefer to take roasted chickpea or banana as monkey love both . Don’t play with monkey.

I was lucky enough to visit on a 'Free' day, so no entrance fee. The palace grounds are nicely manicured, and the small museum is worth a look. You have to walk around to the back to enter the first floor exhibits, but the second and third floor are entered from the front. I was there to see the antique beads, and they were okay, but not as extensive as I would have liked.

Small ticket to pay to visit the archeological site and two museums. I did not have much time so I cruised thought the exhibition. Interesting exhibits, but layout of the museum a bit old-fashioned. The part about modern times worth spending time if you interested in the early relationship between Siam and France. The archeological site is really good and an historian delight,

I got in for free, because I was about done paying the tourist fee to get in to see these ruin. One of the Thai's was kind enough to let me in, but to my surprise, this place was pretty much empty.
I couldn't even go see the temple or museum they had in there, so if I had paid the entrance fee, I would have been pissed. Did manage to get a couple of nice pictures out of here though.

I came here for the King Narai the Great Festival in February. The palace is decorated beautifully and it is filled with Thai culture. Elephants parade through the palace, soldiers guard every entrance and amusing Khon dancers.
You can see how Thai silk is weaved, go to an old style market and trade your baht for old style currency, see many beautiful dances and lovely music playing.
Lopburi is a fun place to be in February as shopkeepers, teachers and civil servants dress up in traditional Thai clothes. It's a great place to come to experience a beautified 17th century Thailand and learn about Thai history.
