We were in Koh Tao during and following the 'historic' rain storms in January 2017 - so the beaches weren't at their best after 72 hours of intense flooding / rain / wind. That said - Tanote Beach was awesome - the water was clear and warm, the sand was on the finer side, and the vibe was very chill.... More

Tanote bay at the east coast of Koh Tao has quiet good spots for snorkeling. The big rocks outside the bay are shelters for several amazing fish. Would come back.

We hired scooters and drove all around the island. We came across Ao Tanot Bay mid afternoon and enjoyed a great view out to sea and the mix of sandy beach and large rock boulders. Nice spot and wasn't busy as all.

Visited a few bays and beaches whilst on Kao Tao, Ao Tanot was one of the best good sized sandy beach with shade available under trees, Couple of bar restaurants and access by taxi or motor cycle. Sand rather course in parts mainly due to coral Which brings me to the snorkelling which is great, good reef off both headlands... More

This is a favorite of mine if I am not working. I love Tanote Bay. It has a nice beach, good snorkeling and cliff jumping if you fancy that. The only thing missing is affordable food.

Nice snorkelling even in November when the water are more turned up, this little bay is worth a visit either from a dive boat or overland,

We've been to a fair few bays in Koh Tao and for us this has been the best for snorkelling. We went back a few times and each time we found more to see! If you swim to the left of the big rock there is some beautiful coral. The sea here is generally really clean compared to other beaches.... More

Great snorkeling, with a bar and restaurant on the beach. Pool is available too for 100 baht. Well worth the 10 min drive

Went there to snorkle with my fiance (50 Baht for mask, 50 Baht for fins). It was our first time snorkling and it was absolutely mesmerizing. The marine life is so colorful and some fish were so wonderfully curious (and had a taste of my hair). The bay itself is beautiful. There weren't many people there (around noon).
