Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was here a few years ago and it was much clearer which way to go what to do when you’re off the boat/ferry. Currently under construction I understand they’d like to expand which is a good idea but it’s all in a very confusing way. One line to queue for the boat leaving and no space for boats to park. We had to walk across 3 other boats to get off ours.

Got off the ferry and found out that the parking etc is a 200 metre walk away, due to construction taking place. It allows embarking/disembarking simultaneously. So it does what it is meant to do. Remember your 10baht landing fee.

This is where the ferry boats arrive and depart and it can be a busy place. There was construction work taking place when we were there. A few small bars and refreshment areas. Rest rooms are very basic. Best to head straight to town or to your accommodation. When departing don't arrive too early as there is nothing to do here.

Saladan Pier is the main gateway to Koh Lanta. When you are entering and or exiting from this island, this is where you have to come. Normally the boat tickets are available at your hotel front desk or counter but if you aren't able to buy boat tickets for any reasons, you can buy it from here at the pier. There are food shops, souvenir shops. There is no exit fee but entrance fee is 10 baht. All hotels, guest houses and resorts provide free shuttle van services to this pier.

This pier is small but well organized. By arrival people asked us of we already had tickets & then told is where to go to. After getting our boat tickets & stickers they told us to sit and that they would pick us up to go to the Marina pier. This happened & the boats were on time.

Come here to catch a ferry, organise excursions, do food shopping, eat at night markets, have a drink, arrange a dive etc. Saladan has it all.

Upon arriving to Ko Lanta once you step off that boat you are bombarded with Tuk Tuk drivers and taxi drivers literally in your face trying to get you to go with them to your hotel. I found this so stressful as I was tired and was on the lookout for our hotel shuttle which promised us a ride but never showed up! the taxi drivers watch you and your expressions to feel around whether they are going to get a sale, I understand they need it but the experience is extremely overwhelming. Do not pay anymore then 200baht for a transfer to your hotel if you end up going with one of them, if you do you are being ripped off.

Staff at check in for the Satun Pakbara speed boat friendly, efficient and helpful. Pleasant little bar/restaurant with shade. Money changer also available. Toilets should be upgraded.

One of my favorite things about travel is definitely experiencing the culture and the everyday life for the people in the country I’m visiting, and Saladan Pier is a great way of doing precisely that. We lived at Long Beach so it took a short tuk tuk trip to get there but when we went there I enjoyed it so much. It was so charming and authentic with all the small food stalls and shops. I am really looking forward to going there again!

There is a good chance you won’t be able to avoid this part of town as all the ferries dock here. It is bustling with lots to see and do and can get quite chaotic at times.
Nevertheless it is great fun and we often visit the area in the evenings as well. The reason for that is mainly the pier restaurant which are great. You are spoiled for choice as there are so many of them and you eat your dinner with the water underneath you.
There is lots of shops, ATMs and you can get stocked up on just about everything you need here
