As a tourist attraction, Chao Phraya River is not much. This “attraction” warrants my high rating because of its significance to Thailand (which Thais have never referred to as Siam), its culture, and food production/transportation. At the confluence of the Pa Sak and Lop Buri rivers in Ayuthaya (Thailand’s ancient capital razed by Burmese warriors), the “River of Kings” swallow... More

Had a great afternoon cruising from Ayutthaya to Bangkok. Life along the river is really interesting. Our cruise supplied lunch, which was delicious.

We took a great boat ride. Only 100 baht for two hours, stopping at three temples. We were able to see Thai river life, three crocs (or are they alligators in Thailand?) and something which looked like a huge snake! Sadly, though, the river is rather polluted.

The Chao Phraya River (Mae Nam Chao Phraya) has always played a significant role within the city it flows through and remains the lifeblood of Bangkok to this very day, with passenger ferries, long-tail boats and slow barges laden with cargo making their way along the river daily. Most of the city’s main attractions are easily accessible from various points... More

This river isn't really the prettiest river, the water is murky and full of garbage. However.. Pros: - the express boat that runs along it is worth a trip. I would recommend (if coming from Bangkok) to take a boat- orange ticket 15Baht per person from 'Tha Tien pier' and stop at 'Si Phraya pier'. You can walk around the... More

I have been on many rivers around the world but this does not rank as one of the most scenic ones. A cheap way to see it is to take a ferry and cycle along stopping at the nearby temples.

It is just an average place. could visit if you don't have any other thing to do. But who can get bored in Ayutthaya? Go only if you don't have anything else on the itinerary.

Our host at Brick House (formerly Ayutthaya Guest House) arranged this evening boat trip for us and transported us to the dock. The boat was, perhaps a bit smaller than we would have wished for but hey...throw caution to the wind. We got to see temples and ruins from the river perspective, and homes along the river and many different... More

Go to one of the docks and wait for the River Taxi. It has the orange flag in the rear. It costs <9TB... You can go to any of the docks. Hop on/off. Travel up n down the river. It's a free tour!!! After your river views, stop at any of the fabulous sights on the way back. Eventually work... More

We went on a late afternoon trip for 2 hours ending at the night market. Be prepared for some precarious walkways and clambering. You get taken to several temples and ruins which you may have already seen. But you only have 10 minutes to view them so dont rely on this trip as the only way to visit. It was... More
