Roads from all sides to the National Park are good, so it is great driving in from any side- Mysuru,Coimbatore or even Ooty. Spotted Deer,Sambhar, Cheetal, Langurs, Monkeys, Peacocks, ,Porcupine Mongoose are easily sighted. Being one of the few lucky ones we came across a mother elephant with a baby with their backs towards us. To see a real wild... More

We have been to other national parks and this is not really in the same league. Our jeep driver tried his best but he didn't have binoculars so at times we saw more than he did. However, we did see some different birds, lots of deer, mongoose, peacocks and buffalo and then on the way back home a mother and... More

Took bus safari, could not locate any animal. Bus pass thorough only major paths, chanced of animal sighting is less tamilnadu forest dept are well organised in organizing it. elephant camp was not available, Compare to this, animal sight was more in bandipur side. Roads are good with plenty speed breaker to limit speed of vehicle.

Firstly , let me state that we went through the reserve en route to Ooty. We did not go on a safari as such. To our surprise we saw some wild life grazing on the grass next to the road. Then we saw a herd of wild elephants. Wow. I never expected that. Really made the drive through worth it.

It's quite a sad scene here, specially in the winters. It's a dry deciduous forest so everything was bare and barren. No animals to spot. Not even birds we saw. I think we saw more animals on the road while driving in our own car than we saw in the safari. The safari is really really bad. There's only a... More

One of our main reasons for visiting the Nilgiris district was to visit the wildlife parks/tiger reserves....the fact is that there are very few animals or birds in residence, the experience was a complete let down. The girl in Forest Department in Ooty has no interest in visitors and was much happier flirting on her phone than dealing with us.... More

A must place to visit by wildlife enthusiacist. If so make a drive during dawn & dusk so as to sight animals. Donot shout at animals as they may attack u in fear. There is an elephant ride and forest dept vehicle take u inside the woods at a nominal tariff. The road is closed from 6pm to 6am to Thepakadu... We went to Mudumalai National Park due to the good recommendations. It is a really nice area and therefore we stayed for one night (very nice experience, would definitely recommend that!). Unfortunately we could not see any animals: The elephants had some diseases and were shifted to another place and the bus safari did not meet our expectations. The safari... More

It is really a waste of time and money. The car-wallahs charge too much and just drive you around. You hardly get to see anything beyond Deer and a few Peacocks. We saw a Bison but it was really far away. The whole trip was just a waste. The private car-wallahs tell you that the government jeeps do not take... More

We drove almost 100km from Ooty for 3 hours to visit this horribly maintained National park . Only govt vehicles or some local jeeps are allowed inside. You sight almost ZERO animals on a bus safari. Its terribly hot even in December. Most of the trees are burnt, you can see ashes on the forest floor. DO not expect to... More
