The site is next to laxman theertham.
The priest there stated that the main idol of Hanuman was found floating on the waters of Agneethertham. I was blessed to see the floating stone there in the temple. Photography was strictly not allowed inside.

Located about 3 Kms from the Ramnathswami temple. His idol .have five faces. We saw this temple while returning to my hotel. There is a big statue of Lord Hanuman in black color, having five different faces. Just in front of the statue is a small temple devoted to Him. We got inside and had quick darshan there. There is a small statue inside the sanctum. Photography is not allowed here. According to the legend, when Ahiravana a great demon and brother of Ravana , took unconscious Lord Rama and His brother Laxmana to Patal Lok and hid them .Hanuman went in search of them and came to know that demon Ahiravana can only be killed if lamps which were put in five different directions are extinguished simultaneously .So Hanuman became the 5 gods in different directions, named 1-Hanuman 2- Hayagreeva 3-Narsimha 4-Garuda 5-Varahswami and extinguished all the five lamps simultaneously and then Ahiravan was killed and Lord Rama and Laxmana were saved from his clutches. This five faced statue signifies the face of those five Gods in one God Hanuman.

It appeared like a way side hanuman statue. My autorickshaw driver was kind enough to ask me if I would want to get down and go near. This idol commemorates the incident when hanuman saw sita devi and brought her ring to Lord rama. The idol is very near to ramar padam/ gandhamadana parvatam. It is called Saatchi Hanuman as he was "Saatchi" ( proof / eye witness ) of seeing sita devi.

This is, I guess, one of the few temples where Lord Hanuman is depicted as a five faced god. This temple is called Panchmukhi Hanuman temple, Panch meaning 5 and mukhi meaning faces. This temple also has on display the famous floating rocks of Rameshwaram

Temple is very small. It is famous for Hanuman idol and floating stone. Load hanuman idol have 5 faces and this is related to mythology story of Ahiravana who took unconscious Lord Rama and His brother Laxmana to Patal Lok and hid them. Detail story was explain very well by TA traveller sctri48 hence will not repeat here. Photography is not allowed here.
You can see floating stone bit you are not allowed to touch that stone. I forgot the name of another temple where you are allowed to touch stone as well as to handle it.

Here you can see floating stones, which were used to build Ram Setu to connect Rameshwaram to Srilanka. This temple also has a five faced statue of Lord Hanuman.
