It is good place to visit in morning when the sky is clear but generally in Kodaikanal it foggy and cloudy in monsoon months. Nice place to visit though it is not popular.

One of the best places in kodaikanal for learning experiences. Its a nice place to visit in kodaikanal for informative purposes. visit the place by morning when the sub is visible. Vehicles are not allowed inside so you have go by walk inside. The staff people are good and helpful in explaining about the details. Camera is prohibited.

Located just before all the other major touristy spots is this Observatory. I was not even aware of its existence during my 3 previous visits to Kodai. thankfully could visit this time around .We can reach this place after nearly a 1 Km walk from the main gates. Please note that they are very strict about letting in cameras and... More

The Solar Observatory is one of the lesser visited tourist spots in Kodaikanal. Plan your visit in the mornings between 10 and 12 and when the sky is clear and the sun is visible. Be prepared to walk over 1 Km to get to the museum from the main gate as vehicles are not allowed inside.

A must for those who visit kodaikanal. The tour operators avoid this one and the natural history museum because they dont get commission. We can see the black spots on the sun live here.

The observatory has four different telescopes which beautifully captures the sun and the spectral data is analyzed in the labs there. Experiments are being conducted by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. There are numerous trees that are over 60 years old with wild bisons around, so be careful.

Has a museum, entrance is about 1 (or) km inside the front entrance. Good to watch for solar stuff. Kids/adult may learn something during the visit.

Nice place to visit.College going students will gain more from this observatory. We enjoyed a lot. This museum is about sun, galaxies, stars. If you are in Kodaikanal, don't forget to visit this place, which is well maintained.
