Its believed that a person suffering from leprosy was cured by taking dip in the holy water under this tree, since then, people come here for the holy dip in the belief that they will get cured. The place is kept very hygenic & there are separate wash rooms for ladies & gents.

The history goes as Duni Chand was a wealthy landlord of the Patti village. He had five daughters, all equally beautiful and talented. One day, he asked them who provides them the food and shelter, they all replied as him. But his daughter Rajni said, No, it's the god who provides all. Enraged with her answer, Duni Chand marries Rajni to a leper. Unmindful, Rajni serves his husband well and one fine day, takes him to Amritsar. The devotees of Guru AmarDassji takes pity on them and provides them the place to stay in the holy shrine. Rajni used to do daily chores in the temple, and her husband used to sit under the Beri tree. One day, he saw a strange thing! He saw a pair of crows taking a dip in the holy dip and came out with their colors changed from black to white. Seeing this, he concluded that the water was not ordinary and that he would take a holy dip too. And he did! a miracle happened, the man was no longer a leper, instead, he turned out to be a young, beautiful man. He rushed to Rajni to share his miracle, and when she saw him, she could not believe her eyes. Their egonies and struggles had suddenly ended. As a gratitude, they both went to foresee darshan of Guru AmarDassji and told them about this miracle. The Gurji was pleased to hear it. From then on, it became a famous place for others to take a holy dip in the waters of the Golden Temple.

This is a ber tree in the compound of Harminder sahib ( golden temple ). Its a huge tree now protected and wired so that its preserved properly. the saying goes that if you pray in front of it and then take a holy dip in the golden temple waters, it cures you of all your diseases or ailments. the water is hot and sweet. Nothing remarkable to see, but if you believe in the theory, its worth taking the dip.

This 'ber' tree is located within the Golden Temple precincts on the Parikrama of the amrit sarover near Harimandir Sahib. As the name suggests this so called Holy tree has magical powers & relieves one of his pains & sufferings. All sorts of stories & anecdotes prevail about the tree's healing powers.
A matter of faith.

In the emotions of the moment after visiting Harmandir Sahib, you may miss this holy tree but you will see many people bowing before this tree, which tells you about their belief in the powers of this tree to heal. We asked one person about the tree and he gave us the background to a legend behind this devotion.

Dukh Bhanjani Beri as people believe, it relieves the pains and afflictions.
Its present inside the Golden Temple (Akal Takht).
A Gurdwara has been built near to Beri and thousands of people take holy bath near that Beri.

I am actually surprised that this tree is actually on the review board. The Dukh Banjani Ber Tree is just one tree which is present on the premises of the Goden Temple. As such, there is nothing to visit particularly for the tree or anything that will keep you awestruck. The tree is just another tree that you ma look for 10 seconds and walk by.
