Very long boat trip (1hour and a half each way) For a quite poor site seeing. Long stairway along a market for tourists . Only funny thing were the monkeys!

I enjoyed the day! As you ride the boat out to Elephanta Island, you are circled by flocks of seagulls. Beautiful! Once there, there is a train you can ride that will drop you off near the entrance. You will need to walk up many...More

Carved out of solid rock, UNESCO has appropriately recognised the world heritage value of this site. After a somewhat long ferry ride, a rickety train along the pier (walking is better) and a moderately strenuous climb surrounded by craft stores vying for your rupees, you...More

The Boat ride was reasonable affordable and the main cave is a pretty good sight. The rest of the caves you can skip. Be aware that the Indian Government has pretty much doubled the price for foreigners to get in here, I think it was...More

I walked 2km south from Residency Hotel to India Gate for the Elephanta Island Ferry($3). The sunny 9AM boat was a pleasant 50 minute(11km) sail passing Coastal Battery Island, offshore oil tanker pipeline, and the coal fired electric plant. The pier is 1/2km long(with a...More

I was blown away by this place! The pics and things I had read about it don't do it justice. The boat is slow but relaxing and you get a nice view of Mumbai. There are plenty of food stalls and even a couple restaurants...More

Take the boat to Elephanta island and you get a great view of the Gateway to India that is spectacular. The sea air is also a welcome relief. Once at the island there are 3 different walks 1. To the caves - amazing carvings worth...More

A Unesco world heritage attraction which will blow your mind. Huge caves furnished with statues all excavated in the mountain many centuries ago. Makes you wonder what it took and how long. Must-visit place, just be careful with the monkeys trying to steal your water...More

You have to buy ticket for you at Gate Way of India. Many small ships/boats are there. No need for special or prior booking.
