It is nice place and worth to visit but compare to other cathedrals in Europe it is very simple . We went there on Saturday and it was very crowded and there was a ceremony .

Went the day before the celebration of the death of St Francis Xavier whose remains are kept in a silver sarcophagus in the well preserved church. The crowds attending the mass mass celebration was already enormous. This saint is truly venerated here! The church is well maintained.. amazingly so for a bric and wood building in a tropical climate. Well... More

Great experience but too crowded with hardly any crowd control techniques in play. Signage and historical boards were lacking too.

Incredibly beautiful and soothing to visit. The Basilica is organized in such a way that tourists are able to take it all in without disturbing Mass and other devotional activities. Photos are permitted so long as they don't include people. Rather touchingly, the interior courtyard is used as a refuge area for those in need of a place to stay.... More
