Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This ridge on the edge of the White Desert is made of quartz crystal. I read online that this crystal formation may have once been a cave which has lost its top. Unfortunately tourist or local deprecations or perhaps just erosion by weather have reduced many of the crystals to piles of rubble or small broken off bits of quartz. This is a common stop on a trip to the White Desert and is still worth the visit just to get out of the car and the view from the ridge is pretty.

Crystal mountain is a place on the way to the white desert between the Bahariya oasis and the Farafra. It is a stop about 30 or 40 minutes to climb and look around. A mountain basically filled with crystals limestone rocks . To me it’s just a stop on the way to The White Desert.

There was a lot of volcanic activity in this area and one of the byproducts was quartz crystals concentrated at crystal mountain. We visited crystal mountain as part of an overall western desert tour. Because I like rocks it was worth it for me to visit. You go from one outcrop to another and poke around finding nice crystal fragments. 45 minutes is al the timel you need to see this .

Crystal Mountain was one of the stops we made when visiting the desert around Bahariyya oasis. Kids were absolutely stunned by the clarity of crystal, their shapes and colours and sizes! We collected some...and felt like treasure hunters. It's unbelievable.

This was just simply amazing. The mountain filled with quartz (crystal) or as Cartier called them diamonds. The features and sites are just inspiring. You can climb the mountain easily enough for a magnificent view. Do enjoy you have to go with a guide of course.

When I mentioned to my 3 kids that we’d likely visit a place in the desert called Crystal Mountain they were all so excited and I was sure that the actual place would fall short of their expectations. It didn’t. The sparkling quartz had the kids frothing at the mouth and they all pretended to be treasure hunters. We discovered that it’s not just the one mountain that contains the ‘crystals’, the surrounding area proved thrilling to explore too.
