Unforgettable experience in the desert with Islam and his friend Saleh!
We had a full day tour starting early at 6am with pickup from our hotel in Cairo and spent the whole day discovering this amazing part of Egypt : Bahariya, the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, Aqabat Valley, the old White Desert and new White Desert. Islam managed to squeeze everything in one day and the time spent at each site was perfect. We were not rushed and we were able to take full advantage of each moment. We even had time for some sandboarding and some thrilling dune bashing !
Islam comes from a Bedouin family. The desert is his home and he knows it on the tips of his fingers. He gave us much appreciated information at each location. We felt really safe with him and Saleh.
After an amazing sunset, we had a nice chat with Islam and Saleh while having a delicious dinner prepared by them. The starry sky in the desert at night is just wow! Before leaving, we enjoyed a Bedouin tea around the campfire. We left at around 9pm and Islam knew his way in the desert even in the dark.
We regretted not being able to spend the night there as we had to catch our flight the next day, but if we have the opportunity, we will definitely return to Bahariya and spend a few nights in the desert with them !
We enjoyed sharing this exceptional day with Islam and Saleh who are both lovely persons. If you are willing to have an unforgettable experience, we strongly recommend booking a tour to discover the desert with Islam!!

With Islam and Salah we had one of the best experiences. They took care of me and my mother (70 years old) with exceptional professionalism. They showed us and passed on the beauty of their territory: from the Black Desert and the Crystal Mountains to the fantastic area of El Agabat.
The first day was like living a dream and the fiery sunset across the dunes was indescribable. In the evening, Islam and Salah took care of us and cooked a beautiful dinner under the shelter of their colourful tents. A real Bedouin camp and an idyllic setting. Also indescribable were the emotions of sleeping under the starry sky, wrapped in a warm sleeping bag and a camel blanket. But for the more chilly, Islam is prepared for anything: it even has extra tents for those who prefer to sleep inside.
Woken by the sunrise, the landscape remains extremely fascinating. Breakfast and off we go, heading for Djara Cave: an impressive cave full of stalactites. While we're visiting, Islam prepares us a wonderful lunch! A moment of relaxation and we set off again for the New &Old White Desert! But first we pass by the impressive desert dunes and the excitement of going up and down in the dunes like a ship in the middle of the sea.
After visiting the Magic Spring, a spring of water that according to legend only appears when tourists arrive, we arrive at the New White Desert, the site of the evening camp.
Our experienced cook Islam, cooked us some fish (my mother is a vegetarian) with great success! All very good!
Be prepared! Islam and Salah cook as if they had 1000 people for dinner. You won't be dieting these days 😉
After eating around the fire and drinking a delicious Bedouin tea, we were lucky enough to join a group of Egyptian tourists and spend the evening around the fire, singing, dancing and laughing.
After another night under the stars we set off again and further explored the beautiful rock formations of the White Desert. We were able to let our imaginations run wild and imagine what animals the rocks resembled. The colour was so white that it looked like snow.
Unfortunately the trip ended too quickly but we recommend Islam and Salah with all our hearts. They will do everything to make your stay as special as possible and you will see that it will be unforgettable!

Islam and Sala were very warm, professional and hardworking team! From the beginning till the end of the trip, they took great care of us, set us up with the warmest tent, prepping the delicious- full of effort camping meal, setting the camp fire and sharing us with lots of the area history. Can't recommend them enough! Thank you Islam! Best of luck to you and your family!

It was literally an amazing & unforgettable trip in my whole life!
Islam was a very nice local tour guide who knows everything about deserts we went for. As we did not have enough time to sleep over in the desert, he arranged 1 day tour for us(I went with my older brother and the tour was only for us). The car from Cairo to meeting point(around 4hrs) in Bahariya was very clean and comfortable(if you experienced old & dirty taxi in Cairo you would understand how important it is), driver was quite but very kind as well. During the trip, Islam gave us detailed explanation about all those deserts and set up nice picnic in desert for enjoying sunset & starts. Watching so many starts in the sky in desert was such an amazing experience and we really appreciate he arranged the trip to let us enjoy all these even for 1 day trip only(normally 1 day trip is not arranged as I know). And even he treated us dinner at his place before we were heading back to Cairo as he worried about us skipping our dinner and going for 4hrs trip. I was surprised & touched by his kindness, it was the best food ever in Egypt. I strongly recommend this trip whoever looking for Bahariya desert trip in Egypt I promise you won't regret it. Plus, he is just a professional to find a way without map or anything in the dark lol.
Thank you again for everything Islam and hope to see you again!

Mar 2022 • Friends
Debated writing this for a while then did and then deleted but it doesn’t sit right with me.
I booked this trip for March 2022 and was very excited but it already started off on a strange note because apparently Islam’s driver had been expecting four people (only 2 of us) and when we arrived into the desert at Islam’s home 5h later, he questioned me on this. However, I never made any mention of four people.
Islam prepared a meal for us, and he did have some vegan options as I asked. Then we left for the journey.
The nature was wonderful but Islam did not really speak much to me or my friend and at times we felt a bit awkward in the car.
When we arrived to camp him and his companion just started setting up and did not really explain to us when dinner would be ready, what would be served. I saw him making a salad and using a sauce; when I asked him what it was, he didn’t want to tell me. I pressed it as I am vegan and he revealed it was mayonnaise, which I said I cannot eat because it has eggs and he seemed annoyed. At this point I was quite upset because I had been clear in many messages that I am vegan and what that means, even messaging him the day before. Overall the whole time Islam seemed just irritated with us and like he didn’t like us; he didn’t make us feel too welcome, he didn’t ask us any questions about ourselves and didn’t really feel like talking to us. My friend and I went to bed early and he seemed annoyed at that as well, saying that he doesn’t go to bed at that time, etc. To be honest his whole attitude out a damper on my trip and it hurt my feelings.
Islam’s attitude towards us only seemed to change at the end of the trip when we paid him; suddenly we were all friends.
He asked me to write a review here which I said I would do, and I wrote a glowing review which was apparently somehow not published though I didn’t know this at the time. I had been communicating through Islam through WhatsApp, and when I returned to Canada, of course I started using my Canadian number on WhatsApp again. Islam messaged me on an obscure messaging app I had for work several weeks later VERY RUDELY; he said something along the lines of how he couldn’t believe that I blocked him all for him asking to write a review. I was shocked and upset, and asked what was the matter; he said he tried to message me and it didn’t go through, and I explained that I changed my number. I went to show him the original, glowing review and saw it had not been published, but I sent him a screenshot of the draft. Islam was extremely rude this whole time, he did not apologize, instead he said “I don’t need anything from you.” He did not say thank you or anything. I was very put off this behaviour and said to him that I felt this way. He said nothing back. I was really hurt by this message, his behaviour the whole time and afterwards, and I am sad that my memory of this beautiful natural spot is, at time, tainted by Islam’s poor behaviour towards me and my friend. We felt uncomfortable the whole time and I now feel even worse after the message he sent me and how he behaved and no apology.

We went on a 2-day 1-night White Desert Tour in December 2021 with Islam from White Desert Tour.
It was an amazing experience that me and my girlfriend will never forget. The entire trip went extremely smoothly and we have felt 100% safe during the entire tour. In the morning, you are picked up from the hotel after which you drive to the starting point of the tour in 3-4 hours. There Islam makes you a nice lunch, after which you jump in a 4X4 to drive to the white desert, making amazing stops on the way. We have climbed hills in the black desert, seen beautiful valleys in the white desert and even sandboarded!
Around sunset you will reach the camp, where Islam and his crew prepare a delicious meal. After the meal, you sit around the campfire under a beautiful starry sky and listen to local music Islam and his crew play. We slept in a very comfortable tent in very warm blankets and were not cold at all – despite it being a cold night.
The next day you will visit other sights, after which you eat lunch at the starting point and will return to Cairo – again convenient hotel drop off. I can 100% the amazing tour that Islam offers, he is a great man that will go out of his way to give you a great experience! You can reach Islam on Whatsapp +20 127 709 8180.

4 days with camels through lonely landscapes and to the highlights of the White Desert. That's exactly what we wanted, to experience the real desert up close with the children. The reliable planning and accessibility of Islam in advance, the more than fair price, contributed to this, as did the great, varied food, even on the last day conjured up from local ingredients, and the cozy sleeping bags and mats.
Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I went on the 2 day (1 night) Private White Desert Trip. There are no words that truly describe how wonderful this trip is and how helpful and kind Islam and his colleagues are!
Our schedule was exactly how it is described on their website. Islam made sure we are comfortable, safe and happy at every moment of our trip. We went through each attraction at our own pace and he told us a lot of interesting information about the different deserts and Beduin culture. In the evening we watched the sunset, had a super tasty meal inside a beautiful big tent and drank tea next to the fire place while talking and stargazing. At night we slept in a smaller, separate tent which was very clean and cozy and we got mattresses and multiple thick covers so it wasn’t cold at all. Islam has been doing this for 16 years so you are in great hands!
I think this trip should definitely be at the top of your Cairo/Giza bucket list. I would argue it was a better experience than visiting the The Great Pyramids of Giza!
Also:
On the day of our trip I woke up with a stomach ache, but Islam was very supportive and understanding and helped us reschedule our trip for 2 days later.

Our experience in the desert with Islam was the highlight of our trip to Egypt! We stayed three days, two nights. If you are on the fence about staying 1 or 2 nights i would highly recommend staying 2 - it gives you the possibility to go deeper into the desert and really soak up the desert experience.
Islam is an amazing guide, cook, and overall host. He shared so much of his bedouin culture with us, making it such an immersive and unforgettable experience.
