Never miss these hidden gems while traveling to Egypt. I got picked up from Cairo, it will take ~4 hour to the white desert national park, but totally worth it. Besides white desert, the tour also included other sites (i.e. black desert, crystal mountain, sand sliding, over night camining). I'm honored to recommend Mohammed as your tour guide, he's supportive, humorous and easy to communicate with. I can guarantee for future travelers, you won't regret this experience.

We were picked up from our hotel in Cairo by a driver, arranged for us for a very reasonable additional cost, and driven four hours to the Bahariya Oasis where we met our guide, Mohammed. We had some tea and food in the family's cosy garden and were greeted by some nice cats who wanted to eat our food. We were then driven to the desert where we visited the black desert, Crystal Mountain and more. Mohammed has an incredible knowledge of the area as he has been doing tours here his whole life, and he explained to us the fascinating history of each area. We did a little bit of hiking in some of the areas to get to the top of the mountains and see some breathtaking views. The offroading in the desert was great fun and exciting. A personal favourite activity of mine was sandboarding, as we were just laughing the entire time, even though most of the time we didn't manage to stay on the board.

When we were taken to the white desert, it was like a world of its own. It's a beautiful white blanket of sand with thousands of interesting rocks littered across in random formations. Some of the more notable ones are the ones in the shape of a mushroom and a chicken, a sphinx, and even one in the shape of a toilet. We arrived at our campsite and while Mohammed kindly set up our tent and fire were able to watch the sunset. Slowly but surely as it got darker we noticed more and more stars arriving in the sky. It was honestly so exciting seeing more and more stars, and eventually, it was easily the most stunning sky of stars I have ever seen. That evening Mohammed made for us a meal, that without a shadow of a doubt was the nicest meal we had during our time in Egypt. I am not normally fussed about rice but the rice he made was so delicious. It also helped that we had worked up a big appetite by doing many activities that day.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Mohammed is very adept at taking great photos (assuming you have a phone with a decent camera or a dedicated camera), and when we sent some of the photos to friends and family they all asked if we had hired a professional photographer.

We have heard from a few of the guides, including Mohammed, that the Gaza war has had a big negative effect on tourism in Egypt, which is a real shame as it is perfectly safe. I would recommend to anyone visiting Egypt that this experience is a must. It makes a very welcome change from visiting temples and the super busy areas of Cairo and Luxor etc and it is great to see an entirely different side of Egypt.

Visited the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, Agabat Valley, and the Old and New White Desert. We’re amazed by the surreal scenery and the variety of landscapes in the area. Stargazing at night was incredible.

And Mohammed is the best tour guide, chef and photographer all in one. He grew up in this area, was passionate about his work, and spoke excellent English. He made a great dinner right in the middle of the desert, which was one of the best food I’ve had in Egypt! He helped us to take so many amazing pictures too. Ahmed, the driver who drove us from and back to Cairo, was professional and friendly as well.

It’s a 4 to 5-hour drive from Cairo to the staring point of the tour, but in the end I think it’s all worth it. Don’t miss it if you’re coming to Egypt!

The entire trip was seamless from pickup to drop off. Mohammad and his team are very accommodating and friendly. He knows all of the best locations and is very knowledgeable about the desert itself. He is also a wonderful photographer and knows all the best tricks to get wonderful photos! The locations, activities, and food were all amazing - from riding on top of the land cruiser to drinking tea by a campfire under the stars, it is an unforgettable adventure and a must-do for anyone visiting Egypt.

This is quite possibly one of the best tours I have been on. First, our host Mohammed was amazing. We had a wonderful lunch made by his family. I loved the soup so much I need to get the recipe. Then we headed to the Black Desert which is so cool, we went to see a mountain full of crystals then I got to take a snowboard down a hill of the Saharan sand. We arrived to the White desert in the evening and enjoyed a beautiful dinner made by the guides. Another fantastic soup, with BBQ chicken and salad. Then in the morning we woke up to the most beautiful scene of the rock sculptures. Mohammed loves his work and loves the desert and you can feel it from him. I brought my 75 & 76 year old parents and they enjoyed it. Even sleeping in a tent. Mohammed made sure they were taken care of. Here is what you need to be ready for. The drive to and from Cairo is long, fours hours but worth it. There are no toilets you have to do your business outside, bring some napkins or toilet paper. It may be cool in the evening bring pants and a sweater. I highly recommend this tour!!

Mohammed was an excellent host and guide. He's very friendly and knowledgable about the whole area, as he grew up exploring the desert. His english is perfect so we didn't have amy trouble communicating. He also made amazing photographs of us and cooked us a very tasty chicken dinner.
We stayed overnight in the white desert and woke up to a surreal sunrise, after spending the evening next to a campfire, drinking beduine tea and just relaxing and chatting. We also had a visit from the elusive desert fox!
In summary: it was well worth the 4 hour drive from Cairo, and it was the highlight of our trip to Egypt!

We had a great time at the black desert but we had one of a kind experience at the white desert. We did sand boarding, soaked our feet into the desert, watched the sun sets and was blessed with a big moon rising in the horizon. We also slept under the stars. The other bonus here was that aside from Mohamed made sure that we were alone and deserted enough in the desert, he was also a great photographer. If you are visiting Egypt, you should not miss this experience. Definitely, one of the highlights of our 2-week vacation.
