Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We could only wonder the impressive building from outside because it’s closed. But the massive portal with all fine details stone carvings impressed us a lot. BTW, the city Riobamba has many interesting colonial buildings around.

During the holiday of November 2016 I had the opportunity to travel to the province of Chimborazo to spend my holidays with my family, so that on November 3 I went to a place called “Las Manolas” that is in the city of Riobamba about Minutes from the School Higher Polytechnic of Chimborazo, I was accompanied by my friends, since I was listening about this place as soon as we arrived we found a beautiful nature is an ecological park very care by the citizens, spectacular place surrounded by trees with large green spaces also has an area where you can play sports and organize social events with totally free entrances, it has a flower greenhouse, there are also animals such as llamas, rabbits, fish, etc. it is a really beautiful place. There were two kiosks to make a barbecue. At the moment, it is not a tourist place but it is a place very visited by the citizens.

The Cathedral is really beautiful and you need to know its story.. the stones they used to build where actually in Colta the original Riobamba but after earthquake they moved down to actual Riobamba. Also the bell was done with jewellery of all the people that died during this earthquake !

Riobamba was Ecuador's first capitol. The Cathedral was constructed using parts of the original one. I wasn't allowed inside, no idea why. My bilingual guide gave no reason. Across from it is a little square with a statue and then down the way is a market with the famous HORNADO. There was major ugly pollution in the air so I was not content walking about any more than necessary. For me, it was a waste of time and cost to stop over in that city.

Sadly, the church is rarely open unless it's Sunday mass. I hope the city changes this as it looks like it would be a wonderful place to visit.

We viewed early evening and it was quite busy around the square outside with families gathering. Impressive outside, worth stopping for a look when passing through.

The cathedral stands at one end of Riobamba’s Parque Pedro Vicente Maldonado. It is most impressive with its stone facade. Be sure to get up close to appreciate the detailed craftsmanship. Although I did not go inside (it was closer), I was able to peek inside and was disappointed to see a stark, modern interior.

We took a walk around El Centro in Riobamba and photographed this beautifully detailed church. There are several lovely buildings to see in the area.
