The train departs from a quaint little town in the Andes ans the ride on the train is pretty amazing. you get to see how the train does its switchbacks. This tour was part of a Gate 1 trip. They take you to see the...More

We did not really enjoy this attraction. It was far too touristy for our tastes, but might be better suited for families with smaller children.

Took the Devils Nose train trip in April and was pretty disappointed. We had planned our 10 day trip around this and racing to get there. Definitely not value for money at $32 for under 2 hours. Maybe it would suit families with young children...More

Why does everyone lie about attractions in foreign countries? All information on the Devil's Nose Train Ride states that this ride is 2.5 hours. IT IS NOT ! The actual train ride, which is not impressive at all, is actually 1 hour. That's because 1.5...More

We took a trip from Quito specifically to see the Devils Nose Train. It was a long trip considering that the train ride itself was no more than 1 hour and forty five minutes. Sure, the scenery was great and the rail construction interesting but...More

Despite its somehow short ride (less than three hours) this train that departs from Alausí (90 minute car ride from Riobamba) is a must when visiting the central highlands. The cars are kept in pristine condition (although no bar service) and the guides couldn't be...More

The train itself and the commentary in our carriage were great. The journey each way offered fantastic views. The mandatory 1 hour stop at the bottom was tedious. It would have been fine if the museum had been open and we could have learnt more...More

Loved the ride and the spectacular views. I've read too many reviews about this activity being more of a 'tourist- trap' so I didn't expected much from it. Turned out we loved it so much; comfortable and clean train, attentive and friendly tour guide on...More

If you're in the neighborhood it's worth doing but it wasn't worth making a day trip out of it as my wife and I did. I was expecting a hair raising trip. And though the views on the 45 minute descent from Alausi were very...More

We felt this was a tourist trap. The ride itself is ok and the train staff who give commentary along the way were good. We prefer our own unexpected experiences, not those pre-arranged for tourists. We did not appreciate the hour long stop to watch...More

enjoyed your review. You mentioned you took the road to Cuenca.... were you driving or was this a taxi/van service? And how long did it take?

I'm planning on taking this train - Devil's Nose. Does it matter which seat I select? I'm being asked to reserve either the left or right and front or back. Does it matter?

I suggest the right side is slightly better going down, as better views of the valley, although both sides are good. Coming back (uphill) is much faster.

Hi everyone. I was thinking if anyone would know if the trip Nariz del Diablo is possible to take from Cuenca to riobamba? I mean where does the train exactly stop after leaving from riobamba (what is the end station) and if we could take it from there? I couldn't find this information anywhere. Is Alausi the end destination?
