Last Sunday, my son and I went to Cuicocha, we did not hike much because we arrived too late and it went too sunny and windy. The view is spectacular from any angle. We found a large number of species of orchids and native plants....More

You can get a taxi from otavalo in both directions, cost about $ 15. Nice view, we did not go to the top, due to lack of time. Nothing special.

This was my favorite hike in Ecuador. The trail is well maintained and the views outstanding. The weather can change suddenly so make sure that you have rain gear with you.

Do you need full-on hiking shoes for this trail or will running shoes work? I'm trying to pack light and don't plan on doing much hiking.
