The Faro seems to be the ultimate tourist experience. I chose to stay on a landing just below the lighthouse but my husband ventured up there. He said there were beautiful views over the area. There are stairs, loads of them, leading up to the...More

Went here as a couple and loved it. Hike up the stair of Las Penas to get to the lighthouse and the quant churhc. The view of the city is beautiful, especially a dusk when you can see the lights of the city. We ate...More

If you have trouble climbing steps or walking this isn't the place to go but if you can manage 500 steps and they are numbered then it is well worth the climb. 360 view of the city from the light house and it is spectacular.

The clumb up can take some time and be exhausting especially if it is hot... but the view of the lighthouse and the coty overlook is beautiful. Also visit the little church just behind the lighthouse!

I was only there for one night and knew that I had to see the view from the top. Yes, it is a hike, but a short and safe one. There were many guards hanging out while the tourists climbed the stairs. But once you...More

This is a great old lighthouse to visit and is one of the smallest ones I’ve ever been in. Once you’ve climbed the 444 steps up the hill it’s another 50+ steps inside the lighthouse to reach the observation deck. The steps are very small...More

El Faro is atop a hill in the older part of the city. This is an interesting glimpse of Guayaquil, giving you a chance to blend with locals and tourists alike. Also a small chapel at this peak. It was a great day to tour.

The steps leading up to the Lighthouse are numbered - (I won't mention how many!!) but if an unfit person like me can reach the top, so can you :-). The view of Guayacil from atop was worth it. You can climb up the Lighthouse...More

After climbing the 444 steps to get to the lighthouse it is worth the extra climb around the spiral staircase to be able to view the city from the top. Preeyy building in itself and spectacular 360 degree views of the city.

Short taxi ride from the airport, you should be able to squeeze in a climb to the light house. Splendid view from there; don't forget to visit the chapel when you are up there!
