Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The museum was closed in the past but a few years ago opened its doors to the public and is the best option to admire the colonial art through paintings and works of art found in this museum. It also has archeological pieces of the coastal cultures to give you an idea of life in those times. It was a great experience and I highly recommend visiting this museum.

when I enter this Museum what it reveals may be shocking or you may not notice. This museum was done in a way that being small it tells a lot of the people which live before the colony and its crafts and culture. Here I have a very important realization few people have or notices. On one side (colonial) you see all the wars, weapons and blood of the times. On the other no weapons, instead devices for living in peace, instead of wars just commerce between tribes and the goods they used to trade in fair trade. Instead of blood, just work and people working and living in haromny complementing each other even though the coastal péople were many tribes they were never in wars between each other. Go there and think about it. Its my best suggestion..it really changed my outlook of History...

Upon entry we had to produce our passport copies for transcription by the security. I was told, no pictures down here, OK upstairs. The art downstairs was our favorite pieces. Clay work done in characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy Groot and Rocket, another piece was very familiar as a Star Trek character. The work was awesome. Several pieces were more in the anime line. All super hero character stuff. We took the elevator to floor one which was only administrative stuff so up to floor two. I took a couple of shots but at the entry to the Jesus of Nazareth segment an unseen security person over a speaker admonished no photos. I was confused but no pictures were taken. The current exhibit was old and old looking pre crucifixion ancient age style paintings. All dark and morbid. I looked for the rising and life hereafter and there was none. That was the whole deal. We were done within 30 minutes and not hugely impressed.

If you enjoy quality religious art this is a good location. Some of the pieces are quite good and worth a look. Expect to be watched by security.

Arrived there and the securtiy guard wanted our passports or ID to get in we had neither as they were in hotel safe, but in the end our tour guide managed to get us in. - so remember to take some id. Entrance is free.
Mainly religious artifacts and pictures, some really old and dark. Not that exciting and you were unable to take photographs on the top wooden floor of the gallery.
All in Spanish, so unless you have a guide you may be a bit lost.
Nothing on ground floor on day of our visit - December 11th - seemed they were in the process of "renovation" that was three places we visited that day not fully functioning.

This museum is pretty small with rotating displays. With Christmas, they had a display of the life of Christ. also had an interesting opportunity to adopt pets for Christmas. The museum was free, you couldn't take pictures of the Jesus display...

The museum is big and very organized. The museum has about 2,500 pieces of art and works of art from the colonial school of Quito, particularly paintings and sculptures, from the famous Quito School of Colonial Art. I went because I needed to do a homework of the university and in this place I found everything. The admission is not free for foreigners, the price is $1,50 but on Saturday, the admission is totally free for everybody. Also, You should show your identity card. Customer service is very good, workers offered me information about what I needed in a pen drive and they explained me many things. Opening hours are from Tuesday to Saturday. It also has a documentary center, multipurpose room, souvenir shop and a tourist information center.

If you like art, painting, you definitely should visit the Nahim Isaias museum, it is a good place for lovers of pictorial and sculptural works of past centuries. This museum is located in the center of the city of Guayaquil near to the Municipality of Guayaquil and Malecon 2000.
The place is very safe, very popular and also the admission is free, it has specialized guides to answer any questions. This site introduces visitors to the iconography of colonial art through the four elements: fire, earth, air and water. In addition, there are temporary exhibitions in which emerging proposals, a documentary center and spaces for permanent development of educational activities are presented

Nahim Isaias Museum is located in the center area of the city, next to the Municipality of Guayaquil and across the University of the Arts. At the entrance we can observe a sculpture representing women workers in the city of a particular culture, it is very well elaborated giving almost a royal touch; on the inside we find several similar sculptures; but with people of different cultures and ethnicities doing various kinds of work in each of these you can see a brief description, in order to have a better understanding of those. There is a room at the back where you can appreciate different documentaries about our people. The museum also gives services as exhibitions, documentary center, tourist information center, workshops and cultural programs. You learn a lot from this visit, admission is free.
