Sadly this gate is covered up and we were unable to view it.Assume it's being renovated. Not much else to say as there wasn't anything to see. Rovinj in general is fabulous!

Don't miss the gate which narrates Rovinj's history as a Venetian merchant town -- the "Venetian" and "Turkish" heads capping either side of the arch orient you to the historic layout of the town right at the waters' edge near the elegant cafes

Rovinj is the most beautiful city in Croatia for me. Rich history, beautiful architecture and a good atmosphere are always a good magnet to visit. Beautiful narrow buildings, squares, churches, streets, restaurants, bars make this place unparalleled. So is the entrance to the old city...More

The venitian arch is worth a photo, this was the entrance to the old town I believe it was a separate island with an old town wall and was filled in at a later date.

The arch is very nice It’s location is weird to say the least The details could be highlighted but a whole arch picture is compromised by the surroundings

If you're walking through Rovinj (which I highly recommend doing) you can't miss this arch. It's gorgeous, and very fitting with the character of the town.

But it's a great entry point to the old town so it doesn't take long to see it! Look up to see the Turks head facing outward and the Venetian head facing inward.

This gate is the entrance to the old town. Gate was built in the 16th century. Also on top of the gate is a turkish head on one side and a venetian head on the other. Small entrance to a lovely town.

I'm not a huge fan of such gates, but I liked this one, fits very well in there. Seems to be the best way to enter the old town for first time visitors.
