The Arsenal building, Hvar, Hvar Island, Croatia
Most Helpful Positive Review

Very atmospheric place in the upstairs section of the Arsenal in Hvar town. Don't be put off by the entrance (which doesn't look like much) - the theatre is worth the small fee to get in. Originally built in 1612 and restored in the 19th...More

There is a 10 Kuna fee to get in which is about $2. When you look at it that way it's worth the visit. This is by no means a must see, but it's a little bit of history. We had a fun time taking...More

Hvar public theatre is one of the oldest theaters in Europe. It’s still under construction but it’s a part of a great history.

What a curious place, I recommend checking out its story. However, as per 2017, it is closed to the public so yu can only see old photos and the outside. When they open, surely my rating will be higher

The theatre is shut at the moment for renervation which is sad, but it's possible to climb up the outside steps to get lovely views over the main town square.

Located on the second floor, the stairs up to the theater are above the tourist information office. It is on the end of the Pjaca, or Square, nearest to the" Riva" shore front promenade. The banners advertise upcoming performances.

Theater is under repair and over a week visiting there we saw no movement in getting anything completed. Outside looks like it will be a neat attraction to visit once opened again.
