Cavtat Cemetery is an ordinary cemetery except for two features: firstly, it is a cemetery with sweeping sea views; secondly, it houses an elaborate mausoleum from 1922 that is regarded as a masterpiece of modern sculpture and design. It is the second feature which most interested me. The mausoleum is a moving monument to the Racic family who lost their... More

This mausoleum is very beautiful and is well worth the hike it takes to get there! You have to pay 20KN if you wish to go inside but the various graves are just nice to look at anyway

Long walk up the steps but a path is also available. I don't know if it is the same all year round or because it was Easter, but all the graves had been recently attended. Flowers on almost every grave.

First of all. It is a steep walkway leading up to the Cemetery. It is so steep that we use it to do workout. The place is very nice and well worth a visit.

To reach the cemetery, you must climb steep stairs. Not for those with difficulties walking. And not on hot days unless you bring water with you. Once atop, you will have numerous photo ops. Well kept cemetery. Moreover you will have access to the Racic mausoleum built by the most famed sculptor in Croatia, and I name Ivan Mestrovic. This... More

We were here on a tour from the Royal Caribbean cruise. The town was quiet as it was a Sunday and mid November which makes a difference. However it was pleasant to walk around the peninsula. Bus station toilets were closed so find a cafe. The climb would be difficult for some people but if you can the view is... More

It is worth the walk up to the cemetery for the absolutely amazing view, but definitely explore the mausoleum too. Designed by sculptor Ivan Mestrovic it is an amazing piece of twentieth century design - simple, yet intricate and beautiful. Admission to the mausoleum costs 10 Kuna.
