Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a spectacular spot with almost unreal, turquoise blue water, which reflects the amazing Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the background. Although you have to line up like cattle to get into the place and up to the lakes, the views are worth it. Go prepared for crowds and people everywhere but enjoy the views. 100CNY entrance ticket plus 20CNY minis the shuttle bus from the Tourist Center to the lake. Takes about 1 hour in a taxi or Didi from Lijiang (roughly 80CNY) each way.

This is a beautiful scenic place for photography. Unfortunately all the beautiful spots are being taken by local people in their costumes all day long

It is hard to find an ideal spot for beautiful scenic view because of the crowd. With the waterfalls, snow capped mountains, the blue colored lake plus the pink tree in centre(which I believe is a fake tree which ruins the scenery!!)

After this photo stop, one has to go up to line up for the bus to take you to the next stop......watch out for pick pockets

This place appears to be an old runoff stream that has been dammed At various points to create lake/pond things. I’m not convinced that the blueness is natural, like Lake Louise in Canada is. The water looked cloudy and I didn’t see any sign of life. However around the lake were thousands of signs of life. Mostly in the form of brides and grooms and photographers. So many people. There are some man made water fall things, made to look like limestone encrusted cascades of blue water. Even the metal handrails were painted to look wood. That was probably the most interesting thing! It was very Disney.

This is a very photogenic place with the water pools and majestic mountains around it. It it spoiled by several things: the crowds are very large and will interfere greatly with your pictures; the pools and falls are all artificial; when we were there no less than 8 private photo shoots were in process blocking off areas of the valley. We did not pay to use the electric trolleys and did not regret it.

It's kind of natural Disneyland... Of course the park is nice, the views are awesome when the weather is appropriate. But be ready to queue to enter the park, to queue to get tickets, to queue to get in the bus, to queue to take the cableway. Try to find some distant and less crowded paths to enjoy the walk without the usual crowd.
Also don't be too enthusiastic about the blue moon lake, all waterfalls are fake, and probably the color too. And that's a shame in such natural wonder.

The ponds/lakes have a beautiful blue (difficult to enjoy with the hordes of tourists and newly weds being photographed).
But we lost date in the place when we noticed that all cascades are in fact fake rocks like you would find in Disneyland. Makes you wonder what else is real or fake.

A disappointment...

Popular place we did ahead of climbing the Jade Dragon snow mountain. Guide tried to get us to rent a golf cart after the coach drop off but there was no need, just take the coach down to the next stop and you can walk the full length and back past the various pools, waterfalls and nice scenery. I read that some of this place is man made but it looks incredible to be fair and they do a great job of managing the vast numbers of visitors - yes it takes away from the natural experience but its made specifically for mass tourism.

I actually love seeing the yaks posing for pics and all the brides and grooms posing in their wedding gear. Maybe its a bit random but I found it entertaining.

If you're in the area you can't miss it!

This place reminded us of the Alps. The place was so beautiful seeing the mountain ranges and lake all in one view. We saw so many brides and grooms that used this beautiful scenery as their photo backdrops. It was breathtaking!

Beautiful terraces enable an amazing flow of the turquoise-coloured water, through the valley surrounded by mountains. Spectacular and very scenic.

Nestled in the towering mountains of southern China, an impossibly turquoise river passes over a beautiful set of terraces. As the water runs over these flat platforms, it form dozen of miniature white water waterfalls cascading down the mountain valley. The river which originated from the melting snow of the Himalayas gets its turquoise tinted from the copper ions in the water.

While the terraces in Blue Moon Valley are mostly natural, the Chinese government has done several artificial interventions to make them look even more spectacular. The terraces combined with the flowers, gorges, and meadows that surround them make Blue Moon Valley one of the most scenic spots in all of China.
