Well, while the architecture and overall layout of the area is very nice, it is probably one of the most commercialised places I have ever visited. There is hardly a single meter on the main streets that are’nt occupied by stores selling ”genuine” souvenirs. This...More

While Shaxi is a small village still living as it did centuries ago and showing traditional life, then the ancient town of Lijiang is a completely different matter. On a very large scale it was the sole habitation of all the people of Lijiang until...More

It is so vast, there is no sense of choosing a hotel outside Old Town. This being said, since it is a pedestrian city, think about taking a hotel that is at the border rather than in the very center. Rolling suitcases have a hard...More

We came to Lijiang just to see the old town and it was even more beautiful than we expected. Every street is a treat and every turn of a corner offers something new. Make sure you walk along the riversides where things change again. Shops...More

Plenty of snacks, restaurants, craft shops, tea stores, plenty of charming corners and full of flowers. Starbucks, KFC and McDonald present as well. Just stroll the streets and don't worry to get lost, they all go towards the north/south gate.

Thousands of inns, shops, restaurants and bars. The only drawback is it is too commercialized, missing the traditional touch

We had an excellent lady Mrs. Li, English speaking from the local Naxi University. She has a driver also. It is not a travel agency. You can find her in the square near the water wheel.
