I have heard about Lijiang for many times but I didn't get time to visit it till this passing October. After National Holiday, it starts slow season in Lijiang, but there are still a lot people in old town of Lijiang. We stayed in Lijiang...More

The back alleys and cobblestone streets of the Old Town are fascinating. We had a local guide, but it would be easy to get lost--not a problem unless you have little time. The lights, people, restaurants, etc., are especially great in the evening.

One of my favorite old towns in the world. So charming and quaint. With no cars allowed either makes it a real joy to walk around especially at night with the nights on. So many restaurants and shops to choose from.

First time been to lijiang, the experience was so-so. While the building still well-maintained and infused with sense of old-time, it was crowded and commercialized.

Lijiang old town is a throw back from the past. Narrow cobbled streets and buildings that are quaint (they look as though they may fall down). On an evening it gets very very busy as it is a hot tourist spot. Lots of shops selling...More

I wandered around Old Town twice. Once in the morning around 8am, before any hops were open, or any people were around. This was extremely quiet and fun, and allowed me to really see the buildings and just wander. I also visited at night with...More

The architecture of the buildings is stunning and the whole place is beautifully maintained. The flowers around the canals provide a stunning backdrop, and there are no cars allowed within the old town streets (except for rubbish trucks which come along morning and night with...More

The 'gu cheng' in lijiang is stunningly beautiful and really should be a must see on any trip to Yunnan. However these days it has become very touristy, full of drum shops and average food courts, and has lost its charm of ten years ago....More

It's very touristy with tons of little shops and people selling things like Chinese knockoffs. However, it's also very quaint and worth wandering thru.

I read plenty of TA reviews and heard friend's comments on the old town before setting foot in it. I expected the town to be very touristy and not worth more than a half day visit. I was pleasantly surprised. While it was true the...More

We had an excellent lady Mrs. Li, English speaking from the local Naxi University. She has a driver also. It is not a travel agency. You can find her in the square near the water wheel.

My boyfriend and I were looking around for tours and all of them are really expensive and we didn't book at first. Then we stumbled upon a really nice spa, called Eden Spa and we spoke to the owner who has lived there and... More

Lijiang is without a doubt one of China's genuine highlights, and I think that it would be a real mistake to miss it out. There are only two or three main throroughfares that are busy, while the rest of the many maze-like... More
