This old minaret attached to a mosque is very interesting with carvings on the stone. Its located outside of town but easy to get to.

The Emin Minaret is the only Islamic tower in China. It is also known as Su Gong Ta. "Ta" means tower in China. It was built by Duke Suleiman to honour his father, Duke Emin who had travelled to Mecca and helped to defeat a...More

A very good example of Islamic architecture. Very peaceful, and very friendly people around it. Again not very kitschy or touristy which is a really nice change.

It is sad to see an attraction built hundreds of years ago accompanied by such ill-maintained surroundings. The tower is very nice looking and its adjacent building (what you can see of it) is interesting. However, the gardens around it are destitute and in a...More

This is a beautiful example of brickwork and design. Unfortunately for the architect, the Tang Governor threw him out of the tower when it was finished to prevent him from building another one in Urumqi.
