It's not as nice as Huanglong but its an easier and much shorter hike. It is sometimes called Little Huanglong but there are no colourful / travertine ponds. The main highlight is the Zhaga falls. If your time is tight, you can skip this site. If altitude sickness is a concern, this can be an alternative to Huanglong.

This place will really leave you hungry for more. As our driver said, it's just an appetizer to what we were about to see in Juizhaighou:)

Cycled here from our campsite in the Munigou Valley. Not far from Songpan town. Surrounded by beautiful conifers, this waterfall and the river that flows from it has mineral deposits quite similar looking to those at Huanglong. Costs 70 RMB entrance which is much cheaper than Hunaglong. A good walk to take small children on in my opinion. The waterfall... More

China's tallest calcified waterfall, Zhaga is a sight to behold. The only way to get here is by car. Once here, a pretty, shaded path takes you through fir trees and babbling brooks to the base of the waterfall. You can choose to climb the steep flight of steps to the top of the waterfall or view it from its... More

There is a new road from Songpan to MuNiGou Valley. There you can visit the Zhaga Waterfall (70 RMB) and the Erdao Lakes with hot spring (70 RMB) (combiticket 100 RMB). We only visited the waterfall area because there was not enough water in the lakes. The Zhaga waterfall and the surroundings are really a must see! So beautiful and... More
