Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The show was great. When I looked at my notes for who I suspected after the night was over, I actually had a lot of good reasons deduced. The food was delicious and the bar easy to access. It was a grand time! The only trouble was that my phone could not scan QR codes, and so I did not get all the clues and could not submit my guesses.

Wanted something different. This was! The program is this- there’s been a murder and through the course of the night you’ll get clues to figure out who the murderer is. During the program you have dinner.
To start with we booked online. The direction was to start at 6pm, but to be there 15 minutes prior to start for registration. We followed directions as did many. No one arrived until 6 so we stood in line just waiting. The registration process was to check you off the list, make an alias name tag and take photos. Way too slow. There was an appetizer bar, but no one told us until everyone was in the room. It would have made the wait more tolerable. 40 couples having photos... Then the program started. The explanation of the evening was extremely poor. We were to question people in the room for 10 minutes. The questions suggested were things like “why did your parents name you that” “ is that your original hair color” “have you ever been arrested”. No guide or explanations other than the suspect is in the room. Every single person I talked to appeared to be quite confused. Some di don’t participate because they didn’t understand. We could’ve dont this while taking photos??? Then the story started.
Dinner was served. It was either chicken or tilapia- very average meal. The actors were funny and silly. We had some laughs. Clues were uncovered and some put on our table. Some in the audience were chosen to participate. By the end of the night, most seemed to have the correct suspect. You had a quick moment to write how you got to the conclusion and a prize was given to the winner. Suspicious that the winner was a participant and his answers were not read outloud.
Hopefully the team will get more efficient in explaining so the audience will better understand...and more streamlined at registration so you won’t wait in line for half hour or longer.
But all in all, if you want something different give it a try.

We loved it! It was a unique and good experience. The only negative notes we had about it was that they needed a bigger room and it was a bit too warm in there. But the show was great and the food was delicious!

We chose the Dinner Detective for my husbands birthday and were super excited for a night of fun with friends. The show was overpriced to say the least. The food was mediocre. The actors were fun and silly, but the story line was not great. I definitely would not recommend for the price.
To top it off, everyone in our party came home to hacked credit cards from this event!

I am sorry to say that this event was just ok. The food was most uncommon... the appetizers were ok...but dinner was a piece of chicken on top of turnip greens on top of acorn squash puree! Odd combination. The detective play was also odd. It consisted of two actors leading a discussion about a "murder"...some impossible "clues" that ultimately contributed nothing were scattered about. It was very disjointed, confusing and too expensive. My daughter and I enjoy these type of murder dinner theaters...but I can not recommend this one to anyone....unless you have absolutely nothing else to do with your time.

This is a fun, unique experience for Birmingham. The comedic actors provided lots of great laughs, and the food was very nice. The plot of the show was a bit difficult for me to follow in the social chaos, but who cares? I met some interesting people and had a good time!
