I visited the tombs not expecting much, but I enjoyed the audio tour quite a bit. They have a very nice collection of preserved frescoes they have dug up over the years in new district and surrounding cities from various times in history. Well worth a visit for history lovers.

If you only have time for one museum in Luoyang make it this one. The big museum in town has a good collection but it's likely you've seen similar items elsewhere. Not so with this place. Tombs dating from the Han dynasty to the Song Dynasty have been painstakingly moved here and presented as they were found. They are all... More

Took a taxi out here and had gotten the taxi to wait for us. The area is rather deserted with the road junction few hundred metres away. Didnt see a single other taxi when i was there. As described before by other travellers, the museum is good. I like the environment. Hilly, windy and quiet. Can imagine the past battles... More

This amazing museum is located just outside of northern Luoyang. This amazing museum has little English or signs, I nearly missed the large tomb mounds! This site is one of my highlights from my trip to China. The museum has three parts: 1. Underground tomb museum with ancient tombs moved to this location. 2. Fresco tomb museum of paintings and... The museum site is the tomb of the Northern Wei Emperor Xuanwu (reigned 499-515 AD) excavated at Luoyang. You can go right into the inner chamber and see his stone coffin. Nearby some 25 tombs from around Henan Province have been reconstructed in a tomb museum. They span over a thousand years from Western Han through Northern Song dynasties. While... More

This site comprises a very interesting re-assembly of many tombs from different eras of chinese history that have come to light as the city is being redeveloped. It does not seem to be on the main tourist list so is not busy (hence more enjoyable)

Small museum built around excavated tomb. If you are going to the Teracotta Warriors in Xi'an, you can give this a miss.

Tombs representing China's most important dynasties have been reconstructed here as a way for visitors to understand the vast varieties of tomb layouts that characterize China's history. This is a wonderful educational site for anyone interested in ancient Chinese history and burial practices. English-language signage.
