We started our Yulong River bicycle tour a few minutes outside of Jiuxian Village and just where the bamboo boat cruise ends. And we also had lunch here at a pretty cafe called Secret Garden - recommended. The village is small, quiet, lovely and atmospheric to walk through. A welcome short stop of your sightseeing day.

Quintessential rural Chinese Village. Village friendly and helpful. Quiet and peaceful. Not a party place but one can enjoy the surroundings with family or friends. Great base for seeing the local environment.

Stopped in Jiuxian on a bike ride and returned later the same day for lunch in a recently renovated building. The bike path winds through rice fields and ponds adjacent to the ancient village. Restorations are in progress on several structures and there are a couple of inns in operation. Villagers still live in the vicinity but the place is... More

We arranged the trip to Jiuxian en route to the Dragon Bridge. Its a tiny group of old buildings, still inhabited and undergoing some renovations. Surrounded by fields and ducks and the characteristic rural landscape of the region, its fairly remote as far as transport goes. Definitely worth a look.

This little village is nice to visit if you appreciate world history. It was quiet and tranquil. We had a nice lunch at the Secret Garden restaurant in the village. I recommend hiring a giude for a nice and easy one and a half hour bike ride throught the country side and local little towns to get there. Then your... More

This village was really interesting. We had lunch at Secret Garden and the food was amazing. This is where we started our mountain bike ride with Bike Asia.

Jiuxian Ancient Village sits opposite working duck farms and rice paddies and is the perfect backdrop for the old buildings surrounding it. We stayed at the Secret Garden at the back of the Ancient Village. Jiuxian itself is very quiet and away from the bustle of Yangshuo - the cycling is easy, and there's not too much else to do... So the village is very old and some of the ancient homes are crumbling but some are being renovated and made into homes, guest houses and small restaurants. It's worth a look around for maybe 30 minutes unless you are staying there.

My wife and I enjoyed exploring this quiet little village, but weren't awed by it. It was neat to see some of the older traditional architecture, especially the large farmhouse at the south end of the village. But, it really didn't "feel" any different than the many small Chinese villages we've biked or walked through before. If you are biking... More

Jiuxian is an ancient village with traditional farmhouse with old architecture. However many of such houses are being demolished for new building with modern facilities as preferred by new younger generations. Besides the farms, a couple of hotels and restaurants are popping up in this old village to welcome tourists. Walking around the village, you will experience first hand the... More
