Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You have to see this, really, don't miss it. I am not a show person and loved it.
The transport back after the show can be a hassle. It is not far and not easy to find a taxi or ecart. So best to arrange hotel to get tickets for you and have someone take you there and back.
If you see signs showing 50RMB in Chinese down the town, they are mountain side places, local houses or nearby viewing terraces the locals have made. Avoid these, I did that once before but sitting in the official seating area, in the correct place can not be beaten.
If this is useful please tick the little box to say so, thanks so much. Rick Shaw

Overall the show was great, only bit too long. The lightning, music and the ballet was wonderful, the acrobat show was average, the background and choreography was OK. My concern is the theater, it's already old and need refurbishment. This show it's quite expensive compare to the quality, but if you join a tour, I think they will give special price for it.

Firstly, this is NOT the outdoor performance with a cast of 600 directed by the famous 2008 China Olympics opening ceremony, Zhang Yi-mou. This is an ordinary performance at an indoor theater the consists of primarily acrobatic feats and a little dancing. And ordinary it is as this type of performances can be seen all over China and is nothing special. Save your money and go on a night scenic tour of guilin and take in the lit pagodas, bridges and rocks. This is a much better way to spend the evening.

This show attracts lots of Chinese because it is supposed to have been designed by Zhang Yimou. The show does nothing to take advantage of the natural hills as its backdrop, it has no story line, and the sound system is bad. You miss nothing. The other cities that do light shows like Athens have less pretension.

The location is nice, the show itself also not bad. However cannot recommend it to western people:
1. We pay double price as Chinese
2. Very bad organised
3. During the show the locals are so loud, smoke etc.
Its a pitty.

Our travel guide suggested this show to us, and it was worth every cent. We went through China Highlights and as part of the tour we had a private guide who escorted us straight to our seats for the show and she was there at the end to walk us back to our private car.?With so many people per show, this was sooo worth it. Only advice, don't video or photograph, sit back and enjoy and purchase the DVDs on the way out. Not to be missed, amazing

The show itself is really sweet. Seeing the river and mountains lit up at night is fantastic. Fairly crowded and full of tour groups but once your in the show it doesn't matter. I sat in section B1 and it was a bit more separate from the majority of people so would recommend buying tickets in this area.

a. lots of late arrivals from tours
b. lots of cell phone use video and pictures, even standing up people.
c. yapping all the time, very loud overshadowing performance.
d. 15 minutes prior to end lots of people leaving slowly infront of you to catch tour bus.
e. price for B2 row 6 and up 230, but we got it for only 150 yuan.
f.limited restrooms.
still a very nice show 80% on the water and mostly from the right side island starting. row 17 seat 70, best view.
row 1 to 5 close but restricted waterview from ground performer.
special seat reservation not available!
leaving is a nightmare too. take one of the city golf cart type ride back to west street for 10 yuan distance 2.5 km. walking not recommended due to dark road and crazy drivers! meutermedia
