Me and my 18 year old son put a lot of effort, time and money getting to Huangshan Mountain. We went up the Eastern stairs and stayed overnight in Xihi hotel (very good hotel). The view is beautiful but you cannot enjoy it. Hordes of people (though nice and smiling faces) shouting, pushing, spitting and screaming. Piles of garbage everywhere. Depressing. A nightmare. I don’t mean to disrespect but be aware: It is NOT a charming place, it is NOT a romantic or poetic experience. We went to see the sunset and woke up early for sunrise, both were nice but not spectacular in anyway. All over the world you see more beautiful ones. It is not an inspiring place. I was sorry we came because there are so many nice special places in China. We were more or less the only tourists from outside of the Far East. In our 2 weeks traveling in China this was the only place we did not like. This is definitely not the place for us.
