Delight your palates with this Chilean wonder.
Jan. 2018 • Couples
Only 20 minutes from the center of Talcahuano, it is one of the most traditional fishing coves of the Biobío Region. Located just in front of Quiriquina Island, its picturesque houses and hundreds of craft boats that rest on the sea make it a unique place that surprises its visitors.

The activities of the sector are carried out daily and at any time on the coast of the cove where visitors can observe the traditional drying of algae, mainly from Luga; boats entering and leaving with fresh benthic resources.

The paving of its access, made only a few years ago, has given a vitality to the area that the fishermen themselves have taken advantage of to deliver a gastronomic offer linked to very powerful and diverse marine resources. In this way it has gained fame and prestige with restaurants that rescue the most traditional recipes of national cuisine such as Caldillo de Congrio, Pailas marinas and fried and grilled fish.

But this is not all. There is a recipe that can only be found in this corner of our country and has become a characteristic dish and must-see for visitors: the seafood pie baked in clay. Many of the visitors return to Tumbes again and again just to delight their palate with this preparation, according to proudly the tenants.

Beautiful "living" fishing village
Mar. 2018 • Family
Really, this is a "must" place if you visit the Concepción area. It is a genuin, living fishing village full of charm. Situated in a small bay with colorfull boats coming in and sailing out, sale of fish, crabs etc. straight from the boats or from the small kiosk. It is really a wonderful place to have lunch in one of the small restaurants. We have been here a few times. NB When driving there, you are driving through a military area (the road is public and paved). When the roads seems like it stops, just turn 90 degrees to your left and continue. Parking: it might be crowded at times but dont worry, they always find a parking for you! There are also bus services (or use a cab)

Directions to Tumbes
Mar. 2017 • Friends
While Concepcion has a sound local bus system with frequent runs, it is somewhat challenge for a foreigner finding out, which bus would run whereto.
To go to Tumbes take Bus No. 10, that will take you all the way to Tumbes.
It returns to O'Higgens Street, so should leave from St. Martin.
It takes about 1 h.
Alternatively, go to Talcahuano, there it will be easy to catch Bus No. 10 on the street rising up behind the habour.

Tumbes itself was quite busy when I visited on a Sunday in March.
Lots of restaurants serving fish and other sea fruit.
A lively place making

Great seafood! Beautiful sights!
Mar. 2016 • Friends
Beautiful caleta with great seafood, everything fresh. Enjoy the beautiful sights with the fishing boats, the crab stands and the sea while you enjoy delicious seafood.
Located close to Concepcion, I drove from the city and had a relaxing time taking pictures and walking around enjoying the beautiful sceenery. Then went to one of the seafood places and had a wonderful meal. Its worth the short trip if you are in Concepcion, Chile.

Beautiful fishing village

Very nice beach and lot of eating joints to enjoy sea food. An hour from Concepcion and you can take a bus to Talca and then a taxi for CLP 3.
