It's a lake with high salinity where you can float. The experience is amazing. But be careful with your eyes. There's a restroom facility with showers where you can cleanse the salt. The entrance fee is expensive (15.000CLP).

If you are crossing the Atacama dessert through the mountains from Uyuni to San Pedro you will visit this lake & several others. The white in the foreground is actually borax. I would not make a special trip just to see the lake.

The attraction here are the flamingos. There are three different varieties. The best time to see them is in late August and early September during mating season.

This place is so interesting. In one location, there is: the snow-capped Andes; you're standing on red volcanic lava; the salt flats are amazing; and there is flamingoes! Unbelievable.
