Emanuel and Carlos from Nortrek were amazing guides, they help us with the right equipamento (he even lended a mountain climbing pants since I was wearing jeans) , they gave us instruction on the climb and were very friendly always during the trip, giving tips and fixing some issues with posture and proper equipment handling. Great hike!! Must do if you’re in San Pedro!! I would advise you don’t book prior to arrival and get a tour when you get here - you’ll pay at least 70% less

I went climbing Cerro Toco with Emmanuel and Ronald from Nortrek agency in San Pedro de Atacama. It was my first time climbing over 5500m, and the guides were attentive and patient, so I had a great experience. We left San Pedro at 8:30 AM and were back at 15:00 PM, after we walked in a slow and steady pace and reached the summit. Before climbing - you should spend at least one day walking above 4000m (and even then - take it slow).…

We hiked to the summit of volcano Toco at 5610m with guides Leon and Ronald from Nordtrek. We had a group of 7 of which 5 reached the summit and two made it to nice view points before attitude made it unsafe for them to continue. The guides ensured that the pace was slow and safe. I was the slowest of the five that reached the summit and at no time felt pressured by anyone. When a break was necessary due to effects of attitude Leon was particularly good at making an assessment of risk and at the same time keeping up an interesting commentary to keep group chilled and calm. The day started around 8am with particular attention paid to ensuring that everyone hard the necessary equipment. The whole day was fun and safe. We were back at our hotel by 4 pm. …
