Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not quite one of the highlights of our trip nor should it be a must-visit site. That said, it fit well into our schedule and there are no regrets spending 1-2 hours here. It's different than just looking at sites around Acatama and there's enough history and petroglyphs to make it worthwhile. The drive from the main highway is also quite scenic. If you can fit the place into your schedule, it's certainly worth visiting.

Another kind of oasis - a chance to see some green in the Atacama desert; great rock formations; opportunity to see (and taste if you dare) some indigenous plants; a bit of history lesson; unique petroglyphs; and tons of llamas ;)

The national park's people have done a good job to create a walk among the petroglyphs and provide good signage to spot them. Not a lot of information panels, we were fortunate to be with a guide so could take in a lot more than an unaccompanied visitor. Found interesting, but as is a bit of a drive to get to them from San Pedro de Atacama, would not consider being a must see.

This is the second time I have visited the spectacular site. One of the petroglyphs depicts a monkey. Since there are no monkeys in the area it is clear that this was part of a trade route, in the distant past, and an area for groups to stop on their walk from the Amazon region, over the Andes and across the Atacama Desert towards the ocean. This site must not be missed.

This attraction is located between rainbow valley and San Pedro De Atacama. Visited this attraction after visiting Rainbow valley and was thoroughly satisfied just looking at some unique inscriptions on rocks. Some of them were from BC era. Entrance fee is reasonable and this attraction is very highly recommended to any tourist visiting San Pedro De Atacama and especially those who are interested in ancient history and artwork.

We drove here ourselves, after visiting Rainbow Valley. The entrance fee is 3000 CLP per person. We wish there had been a little paper map at least, to show where the petroglyphs were. As you clamber up the rocks, you find large red painted arrows, and sometimes red painted figures on the directional rocks, so you can see what the petroglyph is supposed to look like. Unfortunately, the ones nearest the ground "around the back" have been vandalized by people carving newer figures into the rock. Overall, the petroglyphs were very numerous and beautiful, and different from others we've seen.

There are very interesting petroglyphs that can explain a lot about these native people a long time ago. Their habits, beliefs, the animals around the area. The place is small and you can see everything in one hour. Restrooms available.

We ended up going to this site last minute on our way back to Calama. It was one of my favorite sites. Not many people go so we had the site almost to ourselves. The petroglyphs are numerous and well preserved. There is some scrambling over and up rocks and you can get very close. Truly amazing.

If you are interested in Geology or just into stunning landscape, this tour is a must. We did this tour in the afternoon and were stunned at the beautiful rock colours as the sun set. The tour finished off with a sunset picnic which was excellent. Take a warm coat as the temperature drops late afternoon to very cold.
