This was an interesting site but if you are doing the salt flats tour you will get better geysers in more interesting and beautiful locations.

This place has to be seen at daybreak because the steam from the geysers will mostly disappear later in the day. Just make sure you stay withing boundaries, or you might get burned badly.

We went to the Tatio geysers on our fourth day in San Pedro de Atacama - we drunk a lot of water and matte de coca, relaxed a lot, and did not have any issues with altitude sickness (headache, stomachache). But still bear in mind that you get tired very easily while walking in Tatio geysers dye to the altitude.... More

For the people who never seen a geyser before this is great and you should go. If you already know geysers you can skip this if you are short of time and/or budget. The different between this place and other I've been is the huge are to cover. The geysers show more activity at sunrise so your trip is going... More

The geysers were not as spectacular as Yellowstone for example but the setting is amazing. It's an easy drive up in your own car - good road well signposted, but probably really busy around 0500 in the morning. We went after breakfast and there was just one other car there with us - amazing.

The geysers of Tatio are great to visit in the early morning, but you will need multiple layers. The temperature will often drop below freezing. I highly recommend booking a tour since the location is far and difficult to navigate.

To be honest - it was not really worth to get up that early to see the geysirs. If you have seen ones in New Zealand, Iceland or the Yellow Stone National Park in the US you will not be impressed if not disappointed. On the other hand it is nice to visit a geo thermal field at 4.300 meters... More

Overdue review (visited in November 2015). At the time this was a great experience and worth the early start and drive up. Yes the altitude got to me but not enough to affect the experience. Be careful not to get too close to the hot water pools. .some poor lady died not long before we visited because she fell in...as... More
