Visited Valley of the Moon as part of our Sth America Express tour with Tucan Travel. Started from San Pedro de Atacama at around 4pm. Views and landscapes were incredible - especially from the tops of dunes and outcrops. In our 60's, but all the walking/climbing/crawling was no problem. Sunset was brilliant, with photo opportunities changing by the second. Temperature... More

You can imagine walking on the moon in all the craters of the Valley of the Moon. My spouse was on crutches but still managed the 25 minute walk through the caverns with many twists and turns where you have to get on your haunches and duck your head. But you can skip this part of the tour and still... More

Exceptional variety of formations . Lotsa other tourists but place is so large, no problems. Staff is pleasant and exceptionally patient. Don't settle for the overlook... drive through the whole park.

Do not miss the sunset and be sure to be there early to get a good spot. Unbeliveable changing of colours on the mountain side and the clouds was so red and orange. Landscape is like from another planet.

Wear shorts and hiking boots. Enjoys the beautiful views of the desert. You can either take a short your or a longer one that goes through the cavern. If you have problems with vertigo and heights do the short tour. Make sure to use lots of sunblock, sunglasses and a hat.

you walk through moving landscapes at each turn; the colors are just incredible; the contrasts between the hills and the sky could be painted forever.

It can be very windy: remember to wear a anti wind hat and something to cover your mouth for the dust

Biking through the Valle de la Luna was a 5.5 hour round trip for my daughter & me, both of us fit & active. There is very little shade & I strongly recommend at least 2 liters of water per person in the summer. We went in the morning & had the park mostly to ourselves. There are several bathrooms... More
