We went for half a day ride at valle del elqui. It's very recommended to do it with a rented car so you can stop where ever you want for as much time as you want. We really enjoyed to eat at Pisco Elqui which is a small village at the cenyer of the valley.

This is a very good tour for the history of Chile Pisco. The location is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the time.

Valle de Elqui is a nice place for a visit, but I had expected it to be fantastic because of all that we had heard about it before... The nature is pretty and it is interesting to see a winery or a place where they make pisco sour. I would not want to stay there for a longer period, but... More

The tour was put on by EcoTurismo of La Serena and included a visit to the Puclaro Reservoir, a place where they made high quality pisco, the museum of the poet Gabriela Mistral who won the Nobel Literature Prize and the lovely little town of Pisco Elqui where we had a terrific lunch. The tour cost a mere 27,000 pesos... More

I highly recommend doing the Valley on a bike as it allows you to enjoy the scenery and gives you opportunity to stop whenever and wherever you like ( parking can be a little challenging in the villages). Best distillery to go to is Los Nichos. It's the oldest artisanal Pisco distillery and for $1,000 the tour is well worth... More

We stayed in Vicuna for 2 days which was quite enough. One day we visited the Pisceria Mistral and Observatory Mammaluca, both very nice and worth the trip. Second day we rented bicycle (6000 PP) and went around for about 4 hours, visited one local brewery which had a good beer. Another recommendation would be hostel Michel in Vicuna, very... More

Went here with EcoTours. Many great stops along the way and the scenery was beautiful. Was very peaceful and many nice restaurants in the area. Would definitely go again! We did the pisco tour and was ok. Great drinks. Definitely buy the pisco with Rosemary and Tonic!

The scenery on the long drive north from Santiago to La Serena is pretty, but repetitive. Head inland to the Elqui valley, and it is spectacular: natural splendour supplemented with attractive vineyards in the homeland of pisco. The skies quickly clear of the coastal mist, ensuring that the night-time star viewing will, indeed, be perfect.

Recommended for a visit to stop at the little villages. We stopped at pisco elqui and vicuna. Monte grande also looked nice. The tours from la Serena were quite expensive so we just got a bus with Via Elqui from bus terminal in la Serena, which are frequent and return frequently between all villages back from pisco elqui to la...
