My husband and I spent the whole afternoon at Valle del Encanto, exploring independently using the provided map. This area is amazing! Full of petroglyphs, pictographs and mortars (morteros) from the Molle culture around AD 700; including a so-called Inca Bath, a large stone with...More

We left the Pan American Highway and took a small country road to the valley which has great archaeological importance, being considered an open air museum of scientific and cultural interest. Groups of hunters inhabited the valley from around circa 2000 B.C. to A.D. 600....More

It is wonderful to be able to visit a site that has ancient historical significance and accessible rock engravings. We visited mid-summer when the meeting pool was dry but I think that a visit when the springs are operating and the meeting pool was filled...More

Lovely small desert park that's beautiful for hiking in the winter. Lots of great examples of pre-Columbian petroglyphs roped off along the trails. Off the beaten path so we went with Tembeta Tours, and our guide was able to take our small group to a...More

Very nice to see this art from way back, on the rocks in the valley. The visit last about 1h30 and should be very interesting for Kids. We sa chinchillas and rabbins also. Nice picknick area on the site.

Surprisingly for me, I ended up going with a private guide, Cristobal from Tembeta Tours. The reviews I had read suggested that it was a small valley and not as interesting as people had expected. I probably would have said the same except that Cristobal...More

The site provides an interesting insight into the Molle PreColumbian Culture. The site was a well used way point and many of the petroglyphs are the ancient equivalent of ancient "We were here" graffiti. There are a number of places where grains were ground and...More
